  • I held off reading this book for months because I didn't think I could hack the twenty year age gap even though I have such a huge soft spot for uncles.

But I am so glad that I did read it as it turned out to be such a beautiful unconventional love story.

At the beginning, i felt so sad and bad for poor Shao Qing, much as she detested Zhou Chen, she was being dragged and seemingly coerced into a relationship with him. From her perspective, he had such a powerful aura that she feared him tremendously. But eventually, from a reader's point (mainly mine, I guess), I then wonder what was the fear all about, because he only showered her with boundless love and he pampered her so thoroughly. He can be/is cruel and heartless to everybody except her.

So before i knew it, I jumped ship and felt so sad for Zhou Chen instead, because even though he did marry Shao Qing and had kids with her, she never really reciprocated his love for her. To her, it was like accepting fate that this was her husband and the father of her children. She has got no complains about this man anymore, even the age gap was no longer an issue to her because she knows he loved her so much. But if only, she could love him back......

........of course, the story ends happily.....

  • I agree with you about Shao Qing just accepting her fate as a married woman and a mother of two children. It is just really pissed me off after so many hours of reading and trying to see how she will fall for Zhou Chen, but at the end the author just giving me a scene of her coincidence meet her ex-boyfriend again. Then Zhou Chen questioning her about her feeling and she just pass it by saying she already marry him and have two kid with him. Sigh, I just don't understand what she is thinking. How can you not fall for Zhou Chen? He genuinely love and care for her. After their marriage, he seriously trying to make her feel comfortable and cater to her need. And it is cute how he favor daughter over son.

  • That's why I find this an unconventional love story. I reckon if the author ended the story by detailing how she fell deeply in love with her husband, it would end up as a very normal love story. Making her meet the ex boyfriend at the end basically reinforces her 'fate' with Zhou Chen. This is rather in tune with real live, don't you think? But glad that you persisted and finished the book though, not many uncle lovers out there....hahaha...

  • I read it and was a wonderful novel.but I wish someone would pick it and translate it in English.i just liked how Zhou Chen love his little bride.and it was so funny in one occasion when someone called shao Qing miss Zhou.poor Zhou Chen was all black face.there were so small and cute moment.
