Haha, I am back to reading trashy funny book after reading an emotional one. I checked out a few funny stories to find this fishy book. It is not very popular & the rating is average yet I find it nice. This is all a matter of taste, lol. Xinn Xinn, if you still come here, this book is written for you:) It is kind of similar to Shan Shan but the female lead is smarter. The interactions between the colleagues also funny. I’ve translated a pilot chapter on my blog.
Some funny moments
The female lead who i’ll call Heroic is kicked under the table by her friend. To retaliate, she kicks back but wrong direction as she is left handed so kicked the boss, Piggy instead. He stares at her & she quickly explains she lacks calcium so has weak legs, lol. Then later, Piggy caught her slacking at work & asks her why did she go to the toilet for half an hr? Actually she was there gossiping abt Piggy but she replies because she has constipation, sob sob…..Hahaha, then Piggy replies since you’ve so many illness go & see his friend who is a doctor. She replies no need, a few bananas will do the trick:P Good excuses hahah…..
In contrast to Shan Shan, Piggy likes to eat vege but Heroic likes to eat meat. When she is eating her chicken drumstick, she accidentally dropped it on Piggy’s suit & she tries to wipe the stain but making it even more greasy haha…
Initially she moved from the reporter dept to sit in the editor dept bcos of the bigger desk & better lighning. When Piggy becomes the new boss, she quickly moves back happily tell her colleagues in the editor dept, you poor lot, bye bye….Later Piggy says her productivity has decreased since moving away so it is best to move back to the editor dept. So reluctantly she moves back & her colleagues laugh at her, so it is hello again, lol..
Hey Peanuts, you bet I’m still around. I’ve just been too busy being an octopus, my tentacles are on four books concurrently. Nothing but bliss falling in love with so many male leads at the same time!!!! (Haha…you should know me by now, never too many)!!!

Very refreshing indeed after all the uncles which I’ve been consuming.
A lot of books start off nice n funny and somehow would go downhill midway. But Pickled Vege is the other way around, I thought it started rather slow and plain but halfway thru (round abt the time they adopted the pet dog), it picked up steam and got really funny.
Who’s afraid of who?? This is a very dangerous tag line. You could lose your clothes becoz of this, and this is exactly what happened to YingZi!!!
I almost collapsed when she puked into her handbag to avoid dirtying his car. For those using Pradas, LVs or the likes, this is not a good idea at all, do not emulate to save your life.
And he unceremoniously moved into her crabby cheap flat, if it was me, I would hv thrown myself into his high end condo instead!!!
Arrrrgh, you ate my pickled vege & fish:( OMG, how can you finish so many books in such a short time? I’ve only eaten less than a qtr of the fish !!! Pls introduce a sugar daddy to me so I don’t need to work & can spend all my time reading, lol.
You can afford to destroy your LVs if you can catch and eat a suckling pig like Zhu Meng, lol. Also, you can’t act greedy:P He has such an awful name. I don’t want to be known as Mrs Pig, haha…Ying Zi is smarter than the norm, right? Did you read my pilot chapter? I tut the beginning is okay. Should I translate this after Shan Shan or you’ve better recommendation? Must be around 50 chapters at most.
If he can Pradarise me from head to toe, I don’t mind if I’m called Mrs Pig, Mrs Cow, Mrs Zoo…..
But I would not recommend translating this book, altho it is funny, it really isn’t ShanShan’s class. Furthermore, I find the Chinese in Pickled a tad more difficult/higher level than the rest of the books I’ve read. Especially in the first half of Pickled where there’s a lot more narrations than dialogues.
Talking about ShanShan, I think you guys (Lidge in particular) is doing such a fantastic job. I didn’t think it was so difficult until I posted the two books. Translating the book cover and few lines off the first page was tough enough, I can’t imagine how you guys can plough through and do the entire book. Hats off to you guys!!!

I’ve changed the ebook link. No, this book won’t be translated into English by me. Not all pilot episode get to become regular drama on America tv 😛 I decided Wipe Clean After Eating is a better novel to translate instead.
