Special thanks to Peanuts (Charlie) for helping with the posting 🙂 the adapted drama ‘Too Late to Say I Love You’ is from this Fei Wo Si Cun’s novel. For me, the greatest difference between the novel and the drama is definitely the ending, because unlike the novel, the drama is a happy ending!

The novel is nice to read as the characters’ emotions is beautifully describe in words; its a good read. I enjoy the settings in the early 1900s and actually watched the drama before reading the novel, hence for those who have not watch the drama do give it a chance because its really good! And not to mention Wallace Chung’s marvellous performance together with Li Xiao Ran. ^__^

A big thank you to Seoul, a Fei Wo Si Cun’s superfan for posting this:) Check out her awesome blog full of summaries of most of FWSC’s modern books, as well as Ye Luo Wu Xin and Big Grey Wolf’s books. They are all good authors with nice & interesting books. Seoul’s blog also have plenty of drama info. Btw, there is a sequel on the male lead’s son which you can find the summary in Seoul’s blog.

I don’t really fancy Ming Guo era books or drama. But one fine day, I saw a trailer on tv with a handsome guy jumping around train carriages. The trailer is very exciting & captivating & I got hooked. That handsome guy is Wallace Chung. He really looks good in army uniform, haha…Ok, ok, we’ll disclose our personal interest:P Seoul & I are WC’s fans but we are not the rabid kind so we won’t simply praise any of his drama. But this is a must-see if you’ve not already seen which should be rare:P But, I’ve to put a disclaimer in that his character might not appeal to everyone especially towards the middle part of the drama. If it is not WC, I might have switched off the tv, heehee..Anyway, happy & sweet ending so hang in there for the ride:)

Since this is a book blog, I should be reviewing the book:P I only read xiaoyuer’s English translation which is incomplete so I didn’t read the ending. But suffice to say the book ending is sad in that the leads didn’t end up together. If you like tragic ending, go & read the book for it has more depth than the drama, I think. But if you want happy ending then go & watch the drama to check out why WC has so many fans in SSB, lol. Or you might wanna check out both to see which you like best. This is one drama adaptation which I think many including me approved the change in the storyline compared to the novel.

SSB is not changing into a drama blog but I just want to post books which have or will be adapted into drama since this is the current trend on China TV land:)

I’ve never read the book myself, but I really like books set in this era. I’ve seen the drama and disliked it on multiple levels. It was like Sealed with a Kiss set in an older time. But the book should be very classic FWSC and very romantic! ^^

Thank you Peanuts for helping to post this book on SSB 🙂 yes, I am also glad that the adapted drama did not follow the ending in the novel.

Hey atsu, objectively this is a better drama than Sealed with a Kiss:) SWAK & Hawick’s fans, pls don’t throw tomatoes at me as I can explain myself:P TLTSILY is more exciting as it is set during war time with guns everywhere as compared to SWAK’s corporate world. The costumes are also nicer. In addition, WC’s character behaviour can be seen as more acceptable than Hawick’s character in the context of the time period. Finally, WC looks better in uniform than Hawick in suit, lol. Ok, I may be bias here, so what:P Anyway, as a FWSC’s fan, you should watch and/or read both & judge for yourself:)

I haven’t watched the drama yet, but heard that it had a happy ending. I myself prefer the book over TV shows because I love the original ending even though it was sad.

I didn’t post this book in SSB but I know there are plenty of FWSC’s fans out there:) The web drama for Lok Chun Kai or Le Jun Kai, based on a short story written by FSCS, starring Peter Ho & Janine Chan has been released.

Just wondering, is there no audio book for this novel? :/

Confirm no audio book for this novel but you don’t need one since you can watch WC in the drama lol. I think the sequel on the son has an audio book but the quality is bad since it was read by a fan. http://www.ximalaya.com/2168146/sound/945305
