Wahahaha, I didn’t start this book but started another book:P The synosis sound like a book we’ll like bcos the male lead is persistent & obssessive, lol. I think you probably read it b4 as the author & the book are both well-liked & well-known. I’ll post the book tomorrow if I like it enough. My target is 10 unfinished books:P Haha, this is a bad habit of mine as I’ve tonnes of unfinished audio books, normal books, dramas etc waiting in my house. I think their owners think I am never gonna rtn them, lol. Come back tomorrow to find out which book:P

So lidge, you’ve read this book b4 right? Feedback pls. I am on chapter 15 now. It is a slow start yet it captivated my interest bcos the story began in France where the female lead studied. Heehee, I like Paris:) The author’s writing skill & style is quite good so I posted this book. Moreover her books seem to be quite popular in baidu. Many like the male lead yet there are also a fair number who ship the supporting male. I wonder who I’ll ship. Who did you ship, Lidge?

So far the female lead is not likeable as she is so stubborn & hard but I can understand why. Her dad is such a jerk. As for the male leads, I am not sure what to feel for them as it is still early days to call the shot. So far, they are not impressive at all yet I am drawn into the story because the male lead appears very little & fleeting so I am interested to find out how it’ll develop. Both the leads give me the chill just like winter. It is not really a sad book but kind of melancholy, not my usual funny book:P

I’ve read this but so long ago so can’t really remember. I think AJ & YL are related because her dad marries his sister after her mom dies, right? AJ comes back to China and overhears YL agreeing to marry her, thinking he’s doing it to get control of the company. In the end, she finds out he really loves her, correct? Don’t remember the supporting male, hehe.

A sequel has just been published, but I haven’t read it yet. I barely remember this one and was planning to reread it before starting on the sequel. Just haven’t had time to do it. Is this a reprint? Maybe it has both parts. The first part in Viet is called “Why Winter is Warm” and the sequel is called “Why Summer is Cool.”

Sorry, but I’ve got to be MIA for the next few days. Got 3 essays due Friday and still vomiting blood on the first one.

Her mum didn’t die. Her bad dad cheated on her mum & they divorced. Hey, I think you got the male lead’s name wrong, lol.Ctrl of the coy? I think it is a manor. I wonder why her dad didn’t leave it to her little bro since he favours son. This girl is really cold to her adorable little step-bro. Yes, you need to reread bcos most of your info is incorrect, haha…Winter & Summer are internet novels. They’ve now been published as one book with a new name which doesn’t sound as good as the original name. Ok, chat with you on Sat when I’ve finished the whole book. I won’t post anymore book to tempt you as I think I wanna finish reading this book:P

Aiya, who cares abt TVB awards since they are rigged. I am ok with Ray Lam as he is handsome eventhough he is plastic:P I saw him very closely b4, nearly can give him a kiss, lol. Oh, I feel sorry for my KM but he will always have my support & can cry on my shoulder, haha…TVB lacks female talent so sooner or later Kate will get this award eventhough I don’t fancy her. I don’t like Myolie so pls don’t give her again. As for Travia, I am only ok with her bcos of her pinocchio’s nose:P

haha, yes I need to reread. Don’t even remember there’s a step-brother, lol. Tavia’s nose is so distracting now. She used to be really pretty, especially in Twin of Brothers. I’m curious, how tall is Ray in real life? Is he tall or just average?

Her little step brother is so cute but this cold girl is indifferent to him. I think he is only 6 yrs old. Her ex-bf is something of a mixed nut. I don’t think I can ship him. This book is a bit realistic in that what is past is gone so they cannot reconcile as they’ve changed. Yet, feel kind of sad for him. Thus, you need to meet the right person at the right time. No use meeting the right person at the wrong time. The worse is meeting the wrong person at the right time, heehee..Wah, so sad ar, the girl is a drug addict & her right hand is crippled. Haha, why those books I read lately are drug related, lol. Oh this book is getting better & better. Can’t wait to go home to finish it:)

Tavia is a case of plastic surgery gone wrong. Sharp nose is a nice feature but is not suitable for everyone’s face. She should have gone to Angelababy’s surgeon:P Ray is quite tall. I feel for a guy his height is just right, not overly tall or short. Huh, he didn’t stand next to other guys so I am not sure how tall he is. The only answer I can give you is he is taller than me, lol.

Help ! Help ! I just told you I gonna finish this book but now I found a new book to read:(, lol………..

For a sec, i got reminded of Let Me Look at You, the XYW novel. Please tell me this one is lighter. I couldn’t pull through the depression that was LMLAY. It seems the guy is better too, and I’m hopeful hehe

It’s very hard for me to get into modern book, esp if it’s got no audiobook. Maybe I will just pass this. I have to get hyped up 200% to jump on a book with no audiobook because so lazy xP

Oh, I like reading with google than audiobook bcos I always fall asleep with audiobook. Audiobook is good but I just cannot concentrate when I am on the bed, lol. I find my Mandarin is improving with google translation:) Also, I feel audiobook works better with ancient book. FYI, lidge, jolecole & I like LMLAY quite a lot:P

You wait for the radio drama or cxt8 to pick up this book. It is more straight fwd & lighter than LMLAY. But a bit heavier & melancholy than my usual happy & funny books. Until now, I do not like the female or male leads that much bcos they are cold:( I am waiting for them to warm up:P This book is a bit different in that it is kind of sad yet not very sad. The story took place in France which added an exotic flavour to it:P You better don’t pick it up as you might not like it bcos I’ve special taste, lol.

I’ve 4 more chapters b4 finishing this book. Heehee, at last I gonna finish at least 1 book:) This is a rather short book. This book manages to hold my interest bcos it is short & rather exciting as there are 2 male leads. Hey skyblu, are you reading? If yes, did you manage to finish it? If yes, who did you ship?

Oh, I am torn b/w the 2 male leads. I know who’ll get the girl. Although I find what XXC did fascinating & touching yet I can’t help feeling he is 2 manipulative & calculative. How can he indirectly or directly cause AJ to break up with YL? He loves her like crazy & patiently supports the girl for 12 yrs but didn’t reveal his intention. I find this disturbing. EEeeee, I don’t think I can like this sort of ppl as he is just too plotting, too scary as described in the book.

As for YL, due to lack of book time as I didn’t get to read his dating r/s with AJ, I can’t really ship him most of the time. Yet, I feel his deep love for AJ especially when he committed sucide & had an accident all bcos of AJ in the last part of the book. Oh, I really wish he can get the girl as he comes across as more straight fwd & open in his love. Such a pity that they missed each other bcos of timing & fate? I think I gonna boycott the sequel to support him:P

I feel these 2 males are wasted on AJ as I don’t really like her. I don’t get what they see in her. Haha, maybe I am jealous:P She is not written in a likeable manner. She is so cold, stubborn & indifferent. The only reason I can think of why they both like her so much is that she is beautiful & look weak, in need of protection.

Didn’t read this one yet. I was reading 晨曦之雾, which I don’t really recommend. The start was so-so, at first I kept getting the timeline mixed up, not sure when which events took place in relationship to each other. Then I got bored and started skimming. At chapter 70 I mostly gave up and looked at the last chapter.

I dislike how the author went the easy way out. Yes, Jiang Li Cheng mentions doppelgangers a couple of times, but there is no need for there to be a twin brother. Yes, he pretty much ruined her family and ruined her life, but there doesn’t have to be a happy ending. There was no need for there to be a twin brother with amnesia that shows up in the last 20 chapters of the book to replace the male lead and give the story a happy ending. Sorry, the ending was so bland, that I’m a bit upset.

Hmm, at this point, I’m rereading the manga Red River, the time travelling classic. Now that I’m rereading it, Yuri seems to be a bit too lucky and Kail is a bit too perfect, but I still like it. For some reason the books I’ve been recently have to do with affairs.

The author is the same as that Trap book (作茧自缚) which Chancy fancy:) I read some good reviews on 晨曦之雾. I thought I read there is no twin brother. Actually the bro with amnesia is the male lead. The girl can feel it yet she accepts the twin brother story so that she can delude herself in accepting him.

You can give this book a try but you need to have a bit of patient as the beginning is a bit slow with interactions with some friends (redundant characters?). I feel this book is still a fairytale but the prince is the prince of darkness and cinderella sound more like a step-sister, lol. Also, I think this is the 1st modern book I feel sorry for the supporting male:( A bit but not much humour in this book yet it is not very sad, just melancholy like how winter feels like.

That might be true considering that I skipped 6 chapters, but I’m pretty sure that the main girl’s dad saw both of them, and they both lived different lives; so the twin brother did exist. At first I thought that the body she saw was Zhou Li Xuan’s and the amnesiac one is Jiang Li Cheng, but when she hugged him once and she realized that Jiang Li Cheng really is dead, and this is his twin brother. I didn’t particularly like either characters very much, but Zhou Li Xuan was nicer.

I really liked 作茧自缚 because it’s one of the few 青梅竹马 stories that actually work out.

Since I love 作茧自缚, I gave 晨曦之雾 several tries but always ended up dropping it. The story is just too confusing and goes nowhere. Ended up reading spoilers that explain the twin dies so Jiang Li Cheng assumes his identity. He just pretends to have amnesia because he’s living as Zhou Li Xuan. Also tried 过客, 匆匆 but gave up too.

Yeah, just read some spoilers, it really was Jiang Li Cheng, but even then the ending seems too easy. That he had another identity to use since his old one ruins his relationship. Meh, I only got that far because I liked 作茧自缚. I guess I only like that one book and not the author.

So now this Xi zhi Chen fellow is a guy who loved an joe for a long long time? But how did he interfere with ye Lin and an jie?

And what happened to an jie tat she took drugs and accident?

The author has a very jumpy plot I must say…..no head no tail…..a lot of characters are left floating….like the dad, mom and step mom…….and the pregnancy….hhmm….. Is there a epilogue or sequel somewhere?

I dun like her writing style..but I get restless with an open n vague storyline….I just wanna know wat happened to ye Lin and that ms yang…and her dad…..hhmmm…u kw wat I mean….too many loopholes annoy me…..must get a more concrete ending..

  22. Pm
    Pm August 9, 2013 at 3:43 pm |

Oky…..loopholes still not filled…but I can give some personal opinions….

Not sure if it’s classified as a spoiler……

Ye Lin…..I have not much impression of him….probably good looking, coz he’s some super model cum actor person…..but probably has a horrid personality. He does not strike me as being a really dependable husband, coz he does not strive for their love…despite the fact that I think zhi chen prevented them to be together….I’m still not sure how..but since he knew an jies brother mr pu…I’m sure if he had the determination…he would have found a way….,..
Also think it was stated that AJ called him in her weakest moment….but he brushed her off…… Also du. Like how he treats ms yang…

Xi zhi Chen…..I think he truly loves her….despite his underhand means and scheming….which I tot wasn’t really that bad…coz he didn’t seem to do anything bad much……he seemed to be always there for her….looking out for her from a distance….but I guess he dared not go near coz he felt that coz of the slap he gave her…she still hated him…and he probably still hated himself for it……but I do give him credit for the 12 years he watched her and took care of her from afar……and how he really loves and cherishes her and their child…like how he cried but did not want her to see….

An jie seems like a very detached and unemotional being….but growing up in tat kind of environment where no one cares for her….and being thrown out of the house and country…..being called a murderer and no one standing on her side…..never mentioned whether she pushed on purpose or an accident…..but her dad and mom basically treated her like an extra…..guess she really has no emotions left….poor girl actually….glad that xzc really loves her

But my guess is that he knows her past and the things she went thru….which makes him love and cherish her even more?

But since there are 2 male leads…I think I stand on the side of xzc……ye is not really my liking…..he seems temperamental and psychotic……

Overall, I like these two books. XXC is controlling, scary but in the same time he is sweet toward AJ. Who can love her more than him? No one.

    Spoiler Inside SelectShow

‘Cool in summer’ is a little boring but I like happy marriage life. ^^

JAJ and XXC got married. He resigned temporary to stay at home with her. They traveled. She went to an interview to get a job in a law firm. But she didn’t receive any response. It turn out that her husband hid the letter. After, she got a phone call from a law firm telling her that she can start working, no interview needed. Of course, her husband used his connection, checked her colleagues’ personnality before. He didn’t want to let her work because she’s still weak, get sick easily. That’s also why he didn’t want to have a child. Scared of her health condition. Then she was pregnant but the foetus was outside the womb. She needed an operation to remove the dead foetus. 2 years later (not sure) they migrated in Canada. Years later they had a son. When the son is 4 y/o they came back in China. When the son is 4, the half brother is 13 y/o. The story is mostly about their life together, cooking, shopping, meeting old friends. No XXOO in the sequel but you’ve got at least 2-3 kisses in each chapter.

Warm in Winter started out quite interesting. The slow reveal of Jian Anjie background, why she left China, how her family uses her, how Xi Zhichen has been in her life without her even knowing. Enough mystery to keep you wanting to read more. I found it seemed to lose it’s steam after Anjie finally accepted Xi Zhichen and he declares their relationship in front of her whole family. It then becomes a bit too focused on the love triangle and lost the intrigue.

I can’t really say I like any of the characters, but I think that’s what the author was striving for.

This is a 超宠文, a novel belonging to the “extreme doting” type where the male lead absolutely over-the-top dotes on the female lead. She is the centre of his world, to the point his whole world would collapse if he lost her. (Think Liang Feifan from Bloom or Lin Anshen from Married to Lin Anshen, who actually had a diagnosed psychological disorder in his obsession with the female lead.) I find these types of male leads, while touching at some points, overall a little scary. Xi Zhichen: someone who, for 12 years, plans his whole life around a girl who doesn’t even know he existed for half the time and for the other half, only knew him because he slapped her once. A little obsessed, yes?

Hence, I couldn’t get into Summer, despite it being heart-warming and up my usual alley.

Overall, this novel has some winning points – the France bits in the first part, the interesting set-up with the family – but just not the types of characters I like.

  25. Snow Berries
    Snow Berries October 7, 2014 at 11:58 pm |

My 2 cents worth….there are too many loose end for this book.
XXC obsession with her started about the same time she started out with YeLin around middle school…He only come clean with AnJie 12 years later to seek her forgiveness cos he finally can’t take it that she can’t ‘see’ him. He indirectly force YL to give up on AnJie by using the rich Ms Yang. Yang support YL sick sister financially. XC seem to hate AnJie’s dad but it was never mention why? If Dad favour son, why not give AJ custody to the mum? Dad is manipulative so why didnt he push AJ to XXC 6 years ago where he wanted XC company? Mr Pu is the step-son of AJ’s aunt. Technically, he is her cousin, but in the beginning it was written as if they were in a special r/s in front of YL and AJ call Pu brother! Her finding out the bit and pieces of what XC had done in the past 12 years are scatter all over and I question why XC did not start physio on her right hand immediately after her car accident…And how bad was the injury cos at time it seem she lost the use, but is able to continue painting? AJ is too cold and her action does not match her character description especially in her later interaction with both YL and XC. Of course, the selling point of this book is XC 12 years one sided love…salute the guy.

I already read this book both internet novel and book via Google translate. It’s quite hard to read but I think it’s worth reading.

I actually wanna leave some comments but my Eng is not quite good so tend to be phantom reader, however; I love this story very much though it give me a little bit of confusing about the timing and the flow of the story.

I read almost every single comment and wanna say thank you to you all who leave such a great comment. I rely on your comments to understand the story more.

It’ll be better if the 2 versions blend well. Timing and story will flow better. I love so many parts in the book version but admit that mostly internet version is better.

I read this book, however, there are some things I don’t understand in the book. So two men waited for her for 12 years? Of course the most successful one gets the girl. Also, the internet version of the book seems to be different than the actual published physical book, the internet book seems to have more details that was left out of the physical book. I bought the book from amazon, and it was supposed to have a poster, but I didn’t get the poster, I did get the postcards though.

This books was okay, the first book was more interesting than the second. The married life (Second Half) of the book seems repetitive.. she gets sick, he takes care of her, she gets sick again and he takes care of her.
The protagonist is very manipulative, however, I noticed that this is how most Chinese think of the perfect guy, good looking, tall, successful, smart and know how to handle a woman (manipulate).

This was a good read, at least there was a happy ending. I guess I thought the half brother was her son for some reason after reading the comments here. So is the half brother her son or her real half brother? If it is her half brother, why does the main guy said that the half brother’s eyes looks a lot like the main girls eyes, and why does the father say that he only have a daughter? His one and only daughter? That is weird as well, for a Chinese man, the words use signify the only child..so..

Anyways, I would recommend the first book, but the second half was so so, I got bored reading it, as well, it was snippets of their married life, but it seems very repetitive.
