Bongsd asked me to post this because she wants to read other ppl's opinions since she doesn't trust my good taste:( I can tell you that lidge found the book boring & felt asleep but can you trust lidge's bad taste lol? FYI, this book is very popular in China, always on the top 50 list. Well, that doesn't say much since most of the time we don't share similar taste as them.
I've to confess I cheated, lol. I listened to the radio drama first then read the remainder of the book. For those who can understand Mandarin, especially hoju, you must listen to the radio drama bcos petboy sounded so good as Cheng Shao Chen (fangirling mode here:P). I don't know if the production crew wrote the song themselves but it is very nice & fitting for the radio drama.
Well, this book will not appeal to Xinn Xinn bcos there is nothing remotely funny abt it. It may appeal to Pm who has better taste, lol. Basically it is kind of a realistic portrayal of some marriages which lack communication and one needs to compromise to keep a marriage. It has been written fairly well but not overly exciting bcos we don't really have a small 3 (mistress) to spice up the plot. Just an exploration of 2 ppl fell in love, got married, the problems in the marriage, got divorced & finally realised they did meet the right person at the right time but marriage is not the fairy tale happy ending as you need to work very hard to keep it.
Oh, forgot to mention, the author also loves to mention some nice songs in the novel. I am a woman so I am supposed to be on the female lead's side, right? But, I like the male lead better. Although he is not perfect, I feel that he cares more than the female lead.
Hey, we are thinking alike! I was just going to start this tomorrow. I'm still in my "marriage first, love later" phase and this one has been recommended so many times. And of course, I saw it on petboy's list of works. LOL.

I like the male lead in this novel. Although he was an asshole when they finally got married. He was so engrossed with his work that he has neglected his wife. :(
They can't live peacefully but can't stay apart. I also like the main guy in this novel but I don't really like the girl. The epilogues are good and their child is super cuuuute.
