This book is so so sad...but is a good read. Don't know how to express the feeling, but it's a very heart touching story about life, love, acceptance and social status......
Feel compelled to make more comments on this book.....am re reading the last few chapters again, coz it's just so poignant. It's a book that most will stay away from..but if you can...do give it a try. Somehow I like this author...even though some places are patchy...but it's good....gives a lot of food for thought.....
Even though it has a very sad ending, but it is somehow very touching. Think of all the books I have read, this is the one that struck me the most.....even more than my favorite remembering lichuan....it's very down to earth.....very "human-like". Not the usual lovey dovey handsome rich bloke meeting pretty female kind....
Both leads are not good looking....both encompass human traits of inferiority complex, fear, not knowing how to relate to the world, ..but yet each needed the other, both understood each other...need not be a passionate relationship full of sparks and dates, no need for sweet nothings and words..... Just open honest communication......you have to read it to understand...
Pm: Exactly my thoughts. It is very down-to-earth and very real. So real that it hurts. Twentine is one my favourite author. Really like the way she brought the characters to life.
And I really like the side characters too. For instance her boss who was pursuing her. She was given so much warning and all and she knew what she was in for. But she still went into the "mud" because the feeling was uncontrollable.
This is really an amazing book. Sad that Twentine is not of the "popular author". Are there more books about normal people like this??
