peanuts, I hope you like 杉杉来吃. The plot is actually pretty thin, just a Cinderella-type story, and there’s no drama/angst/evil characters. Gu Man’s style is sweet and funny stories. Usually, there aren’t any major angst/tearker dramas/crazy secondary characters/terminal sickness. If there’s an evil character in 杉杉来吃, it’d probably be the main guy’s cook b/c he makes these awful dishes that the main girl has to eat…lol.

But I really like this story because of the main couple’s out-of-this-world cuteness!! The main girl is about as ditzy as Jin Mi in Heavy Sweetness. Hence lots of hilarious things happen b/c the main couple.

Peanuts, I’ve been verrrrrrry busy lately. There shouldn’t be any spam problems now. But I made so that all new registering members will be subscribers only (with commenting permission, no new post creation permission). For those who want to post new books. They will need to be verified as a real member (through comment content and we’ll knew that they are real ppl because we talk to them). We’ll need to manually change their permission to Author instead of Subscriber. Lidge, XiaoYuer, SkyBlue, and those who log in with accounts are already Author permission and can post books. I’ve promoted you to Administrator so you can more easier do stuff.

Yes, yes, I have heard about 衫衫来吃. My best pal who’s a HK, recommended this book to me some weeks back. I am definitely going to check this out after I complete 你不入地狱谁入地狱.

Happy Lunar New Year!! You guys are the awesomest best pals! I’m so happy to have found and met fellow novel addicts and great friends. You guys put a smile on my face all the time!

How is SSLC, Peanuts? How does it hold up to WeiWei and HYSXM? I’ve been shopping for a bit and dabbling things but haven’t found exactly “the one” yet ^^

Oh my, Peanuts I am so sorry!! No, no you were not in the bulk file – it’s just that I have too many email accounts so I get them all mixed up and some of them get neglected sometimes. I am sorry!!! I am going to reply to both emails right now!

I did not finish that wuxia novel with Abu and Xiao Meng…. I just need a break. It’s a bit draggy. I was reading 人生若只初相见. I don’t really like the reader and how she reads Jiang Shao, but oh well…. Good Morning Spy is good? I heard a bit of the intro and wasn’t sure. Bao Zhu’s Ghost Talk sounds good. If you’ve just started, mind if I join you?

I will be slower than you, I think, so please leave a comment if you start SSLC! I loved HYSXM, but not so much WeiWei…

Hi Peanuts, I only started 杉杉来吃 yesterday after a major digression. Believe it or now, I took on 与狼共枕 (Sleeping With A Wolf)!!!! Then I realised, I’ve bitten off more than I can chew. It was an emotional roller coaster ride on 与狼共枕 , I couldn’t really handle the relationship between the two leads (still raging an internal debate, is it incest or is it not????). Nevertheless, it was a great book although I confess, I did not read it in its entirety. I also commented on this book on Seoul In Love Now site where I found the book.

But 杉杉来吃 is so sweet and fluffy, just what I need after Sleeping With A Wolf.
I reckon I should finish it by today becoz it’s so short. What wouldn’t I do to have a boss like Shan2…..I will eat all the liver…..you can take all my blood…..haha….such a fun-fun book!!!!

Heehee,….blush-blush…..just looked at my birth cert, yes, I am most definitely over 18. And yay, I have finished 杉杉来吃. What a refreshing book, no angst, no tension, just endless moments of humour. Wished it was longer though. ShanShan is just too cute and she put on so much weight from the daily good
food that she can’t get the zipper up on her dress…..

Btw, can anyone tell me if the author of 老婆,跟我回家吧 and 你不入地狱谁入地 wrote any other books besides these two?

As for more of YLWX’s books, I was thinking of doing 把爱错给了你 – Love Given to you by Mistake (about a scientist and his PhD student) but it would not be immediate. Meanwhile, I’m trying to find another romance with a heavy dose of comedy just so that I will build up enough buffer to tackle YLWX again. I am also concurrently reading Fifty Shades of Grey, I wish there was more than 24 hrs in a day. Right now, I really need to catch some winks, don’t want to be a longlost cousin of the pandas.

I finished this book recently & love it! Its a very cute & happy story…at first I find the title a little weird, after reading realise it make sense because Shan Shan is always ‘invited’ for lunch so must ‘come & eat’, hahaa…

I find it comical that Shan Shan dreamt of herself as a rabbit & Feng Teng is a tiger, find their conversation very funny!

I have just read the rest of ShanShan’s story. In addition to the 18 chapters posted here, there is another 22 chapters, right? A total of 40 chapters?

I’m really confused, is this also fanfic or written by GuMan herself? My buddy, also my partner in crime in the world of chinese novels, gave me the links. She swears it is GuMan’s, I really dunno but I enjoyed it so thoroughly. If you could confirm it, I would love to write about it.

Yup, I made a mistake, it is actually 41 chapters with a bunch of epilogues. I can’t even read simple digits now, must be lack of zzzzzzs.

    Here’s the link, http://91baby.mama.cn/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=363386&extra=page%3D1&page=10

There are other sites but most of which are not complete with one/two chapters missing. So far, i find the abv link to be the only one with all 41 chapters.

To recollect, the first half of the book, we were introduced to the fun, funnier and funniest of ShanShan.

Here, we pick up where we left off at chapter 18. We have poor Shan2 rejecting Boss 大人’s version of the so-called confession. Shan2 then seeks her buddy’s advice without revealing that she’s actually the person in the predicament. Shan2’s novelist buddy likens Boss 大人 as a gold card falling from the sky but without the password. To add salt to the wound, the buddy says even if she had the password, the gold card does not come with credit but liabilities!!

Although, we are still given our fair share of Shan2’s antics, there seems to be a turn in the second half of the book with touches of melancholy. We feel Shan2’s sense of insecurity as reality sinks and she realises that Boss 大人 and her are worlds’ apart. We get the real deal of the relationship as Shan2 questions why a wealthy aristocratic Boss大人 would fall in love with a lowly person like her?

We see Shan2 in tatters over her feelings for Boss大人 and their incompatibility.
Eventually Shan2 comes to grips with the situation and she tries to narrow their gap. I have to quote two lovely lines (maybe I will get to plagiarise them in real life one day if I am lucky enough to hv my very own Boss大人) :
    我肯定成不了最好的人,但是,我可以做最好的我
    我肯定成不了最配你的人,可是我要用最好的我来配你

But Shan2 is not Shan2,without some slap sticks. I was tickled to death when Boss 大人’s immaculate fashion sense was somewhat compromised and tested to the limit!! He had to wear a suit tailored by Shan2’s father who used to be a tailor. And Shan2 gave away her maiden kiss in a carrot patch which she found utterly unbecoming. But I wouldn’t have complained becoz I personally thought it was kinda romantic. And oh, the airport scene where they held hands for the first time was so sweet…eeee…so blushy-blushy.

Not to take anything away from the second half but I actually thought the first half of the book was more enjoyable. Maybe it’s becoz of the non-stop hysterical laughing moments that i got from it, but all things considered, it is a very commendable book. Lovely writing style. I love it!!! I love GuMan!!!

Yes, plz send me the list, I want to review it so that I know wic are the male leads I am missing out on.

And I am not surprised that Big Boss did not make the cut becoz the book is almost entirely from Shan2’s perspective. He’s somewhat like a third party, he maybe vivid in our imagination but ultimately, he does not really stand out as a character in the book itself.
