True to my words, I’ve finally read E Mei!

OMG. Peanuts, this novel needs a SUPER LONG NOVEL alert. It’s 513 chapters long with 3 epilogues (but none of the main couple).

I have to confess that I finally gave it up around the 440 chapter mark and skipped to the ending and read the epilogues.

The first 100 chapters are very good, very addictive and probably gives this c-novel its popularity. But, I seriously doubt most people finish this and probably just kind of go straight to the ending. The first 100 chapters has probably 70% of the entire plot, then the first 200 chapters has about 85%, and the rest is really stretching it. Haha.

After a while, it read like a dragon ball manga (which I love btw), with everyone going Saiyan and levelling up like crazy with little rhyme or reason. What I was disappointed is that the characters never really grew or matured, they were always the same – the female lead, ugly with great skills who turns out to be the greatest beauty with the greatest power alive (too Mary Sue for me), and the male lead was always cold and genius-like. It was a great shame, because when the couple parts were good, they were REALLY good, but this probably happens all in the first 100 chapters, then every 50 chapters… which is too long for me to take. Haha.

So, I really have no idea if this is a good novel or not. It’s definitely not bad. But it’s one hell of an exercise in stamina!

Hahaha the chapters are very short, so to be fair, it’s probably only 150 to 170 chapters of the other novels, but still about 24 pages if you read it at 19lou or babymama?

I think read until she regains her memories then after that rather boring haha!

The audiobook for this novel is finally complete!

This novel is by no means short but I think Chu Wang Fei is probably longer. I agree it might seem to be stretched out towards the end but I still enjoyed it because it’s really interesting reading about all the adventures they go on and the obstacles they overcome.

While there is some romance between the male and female lead and some other supporting characters, it does not play a large part in this novel. The camaraderie and the bonds that are developed throughout the book helps the main female lead to grow into a strong(er?) person because she wishes to protect those whom she loves. I think I’ve read this book 3 times now and would recommend it to anyone that enjoys a cultivation and adventure book. (:
