Hehe, I posted another modern book read by Amy to get over my withdrawal from that Trap book. Unfortunately this one has the irritating download warnings:( Dear Lidge, what is your comment on this book? I listened to 2 chapters & it seems quite light hearted.
This is a cute story. The main guy’s love for the main girl is really touching. Their first meeting at the hotel is pretty funny. I particularly like the name of the main girl. I think phonetically it can be mistaken for Coca-Cola or Pepsi-Cola but actually means something like happiness?
I am abt to write that she has a funny name called Cola & u beat me to it:) I am listening to it now, grinning from ear to ear:) In the audiobook, they met in the track field. I got the wrong guy?
There are 3 guys in this story.
-Guy #1 she meets in college and is her boyfriend.
-Guy #2 she also meets in college and is like the class president? He likes her, but she only sees him as a friend.
-Guy #3 (the main guy) is the elder brother of guy #2. Their first meeting is pretty funny. She’s at a hotel attending a conference and is lost so she stops the main guy to ask for directions. She mistakes him as an employee because he’s in a suit, which she assumes is the uniform for hotel employees. Yes, it’s made clear at the beginning of the story that our heroine isn’t exactly the brightest bulb in the room.
Wah so complicated, got 3 guys. I tut the main guy is Guy 1 who left her then reappeared in her life 4 yrs later. Currently I like Guy 1 as Guy 3 has not appeared. This book isn’t as addictive as Caught in my own Trap but still ok. The girl is cute but kind of a bit too dumb for my liking:P Any angst moments in this book?
I finished this story a few months ago so memory is a bit hazy. From what I remember, nothing dramatic happens. Just a sweet story about a girl trying to get over her college love (guy #1) until one day she realizes that the person she truly loves is the guy who’s always been there for her whenever she needed him the most (guy #3).
I really love the main guy in this story b/c he is very sweet and does a lot of things for the main girl. What I love most is that he loves her quietly b/c he knows she’s still hurt from her broken relationship and struggling to get over it so he doesn’t want to put pressure on her.
I spotted this book too, but thought it was a sad story because of the title.
No, there’s an optimistic feel to this story, which can be seen through the main girl’s name.
I also thought it is a sad story but I’ve listened to enough books to know the title & description can be deceptive. Thus I researched in baidu then confirmed with Lidge. Now, I can smell a good or bad book, haha..

Very funny short story…..but it’s not really that happy……I really felt sad for xiao yuan….coz he really loved ke le….just that his parents are so snobby and upturned……but in the end..they caused their son to suffer so much pain….physically and emotionally……I felt sad coz he didn’t deserve it….even tho he did waver between her and wu le….maybe even had physical contact,….but in a way…his parents caused it…
But it’s rather funny how ke le is just so dumb……and zhang yu and zhang cheng……
Wah PM your short story not that ‘short’…..like you, I don’t really like the ending. I am on Xiao Yuan’s ship….I feel so much for their love and so sad for his ending. I think 80% of the novel, we still see KeLe loving him dearly. I understand why she doesn’t want him to fall out with his parent especially when her mum was critically ill. But his parent are beyond horrible…all the dirty stuffs they did behind his back. XiaoYuan is a grown man…He knows what he is doing when he decide to rebel against his arranged live by his parent. KeLe should have just stood by him and they might have a happier life away from his parent… What he said and did at the engagement party was just heart breaking. ZhangYu is very charming character..but I fail to understand how he could fall in love with KeLe…she is suppose to be very pretty but ZY never lack beautiful women around him. ZhangChen is a more believable contestant for her heart and I think I might be more on his boat if the story where written in his favour…..

But yes…I so do feel sad for xiao yuan….but I can understand why she didn’t stand by his side…..I guess maybe it’s not that she didn’t want…but for her to come between him and his parents….it’s very difficult to live with herself….marriage unfortunately is not just between 2 people, as we are always told……somehow in Asian context…it’s basically marrying the whole family……unfortunate but true…so I guess since she loves him..he does not want him to be torn between the two.
Yup…I wa so sad when I read the speech….he was basically talking to her…and zhang yu specifically brought her there to hear it…wonder how the fiancée felt to…I must say I dun really like her much.
Zhang Chen is also kinda sad….loving her quietly for so long….sighz……
Funny story but 2 sad endings for 2 great guys……poor xiao yuan…totally didn’t deserve his ending.
PM, I just recall Zhang Chen had a conversation with KeLe where he warn her all men on the trip, except one, bought along their “playthings” to Japan. If he was really in love with her before, I can just imagine his sadness to know her being “treated” like that by ZhangYu..Poor baby…I don’t really fancy KeLe cos she is just too absent minded..how many times she lost her HP?? XY’s wife is just as bitchy as his mum…Why would an outstanding woman like her hold on to a man who is so NOT into her….sad
