Warm Chord (Here to Heart) 温暖的弦 by 安宁 An Ning (HE)

s3007256

This book tells a story about eternal love. This young and immature but profound love that even a cruel break up cannot change.  They took a decade yet still cannot heal their injured hearts. Even though they have found new companions, they are still unable to quell their empty and lonely hearts. Who will make the first move to lure the other back? The love between men and women is like a war. Just a smile, a kiss or a confession and you will surrender. But he immediately announced his marriage with another woman. Is this love or revenge? Ten years ago, she suddenly disappeared without a word. This caused him immense pain throughout the years, so is he seeking revenge? This so-called everlasting love, perhaps is really no match for the hatred that developed with the passing of time?

I listened to 5 minute of the trailer & feel that the radio drama is quite good. I think it is abt 3 hrs only so they must have edited a fair bit of the book. I think the radiodrama link is incomplete but I’ve downloaded & converted all 9 files from tudou into MP3. If anyone is interested, I can email them to you.

My bad, peanuts. I’ve read this already…hehe. So sorry I didn’t recognize it when you asked me. Can’t remember much though since it’s been a long time ago and don’t have time to re-read it at this moment. From what I can recall, OK story though.

I know it’s a happy ending. I think the main guy is a CEO or chairman of a corporation? The story begins with a selection for the position of his secretary or something. Several employees are nominated, and the main girl is chosen. Then we later find out that they used to date each other.

The most vivid thing I remember in this story is the main girl asking the main guy whether he purposely chose her to be his secretary. He denies it, saying that when they first met again, she acted indifferent towards him so he thought she didn’t have any feelings left for him. Plus, he doesn’t allow personal feelings to interfere with business matters. Other ppl chose her thinking she was the best candidate, and he accepted their decision.

    That’s all I remember…hehe (blushes in shame)

If you can’t remember much then I guess it is an average book. Anyway I can’t find an audio book on it but a radio drama which is rather short. I think I can finish this book in no time so you don’t need to give me any spoiler:) Haha, you read so many books, I can’t expect you to remember everyone. I know you only remember the best & the most hilarious:) Thanks for the summary.

Btw, you can’t understand Mandarin? I feel listening to audio books is more enjoyable than reading. The only shortcomings are sub-std readers & limited choices.

I don’t know Mandarin, peanuts. Vietnamese originated from Chinese so the 2 languages are quite similar (like French/English) so sometimes I can guess the meaning of Chinese words. For example: “fleur” in French is “flower” in Eng. Likewise with Chinese & Viet. For example: “gege” in Chinese is “ca ca” in Viet.

It’s easier for me to decipher Chinese if I have some context to work with. For example….
-For Let Me Look At You, the guy names are Vu Vũ & Hàn Thuật. I didn’t know their names in Chinese, but when you talked about Wu Yue and Han Shu, it was easy for me to make the connection.
-For Mirage, Chi Chen in Chinese = Trì Trừng in Viet; Zhao Xun Xun in Chinese = Triệu Tuần Tuần in Viet. See, very similar.

The problem is I must see the Chinese words in pinyin (can’t read characters) before I can make the connection back to Viet. This doesn’t work the other way though since I don’t know Chinese, I can’t look at Viet words and know what they are in Chinese.

  16. Peanuts
    Peanuts September 7, 2012 at 1:36 pm |

My Mandarin sucks:( I learned it by watching tv eg Princess Returning Pearl etc. But I can speak Cantonese fluently so I can understand & speak to Bosco, heehee:P

Oh, Viet utilises the alphabets & is based on pinyin. Easier for me to learn Viet than Chinese to read novels:P Btw, easier to scan the book & post PDF or scan then copy & paste than type out the whole book. What is Let me Look at U in Viet? I’ll see if it is available in the library or bookshop. If I can find it, I’ll scan for you.

Hey Atsu & Chancy, I’ve sent you the radio drama MP3 files. I’ve finished listening to half of it. The story is quite typical but the radio drama is very good with lots of sound effects, nice music & songs & most importantly great voices !!! The length is perfect to sustain my interest & short attention span. I am spoiled:( I can’t listen to any audiobook with a single reader unless it is read by my few fav readers fr cxt8. I need a man to sound like a male & a woman to sound like a female so a pair is a must, a trio is good & 2 pairs are a bonus.

Me too. I can scan too if i find in my libraries.

I also understand a language called theochew dialect in China that is used by some Vietnamese and Malay and Indonesian its closer to Vietnamese and Taiwanese so sometimes i can guess what some Vietnamese people are saying.

Feel like going to one more library today to see if they have more popular books. Can’t find a single tonghua or tangqi book. Did find there will be an angel who would love u for me. Its happy ending and has audiobooks so imma try reading with book in hand. Have a feelings ill be too concentrated on following the text character by character and lose out on what’s happening. Lol

会有天使替我爱你. it’s a very popular novel, but the author said she shed the most tears for that book over all the books she’s written. I peaked at the author’s note at the end and it says it’s a happy ending. I just want to read this book because it has audiobook. She’s not exactly my most favorite author. I read her “The Flame’s Daughter” and wanted to pull my hair out at the end even thought it was the ending I wanted, it’s just what I wanted the most didn’t happen. I just wanted a simple confession! Girl, he died 3 times for you, can’t you just tell him that you did like him even a little?

Ming Xiao Xi (明曉溪) has written quite a few books, I think, but I’ve only read 会有天使替我爱你 and bits of 泡沫之夏. From what I can remember (hopefully I’m thinking of the correct story…hehe), I thought 会有天使替我爱你 was unnecessarily way too dramatic. The twist in the story is good though, very surprising!! If based on just these 2 works, I the author is Qiong Yao’s long-lost sister.

Started on the voice drama for it. I had such a shock when I was parking in the parking lot this morning. There was a LOUD car honking in the story and I freaked out. Luckily it wasn’t on the road, I was like what what? what happened? who honked at me? than I realized it’s in the drama. haha

I must say, I’m very lost. Is there any history between her and her boss?

There’s a funny convo where he asks why she’s working in his company instead of her boyfriend’s. She says it’s because the rival company paid her a lot of money to spy on his company….haha

I just finished reading this book. I like. Thanks Peanuts for recommending me this book.
But sometimes I really want to strangle the male lead. He always wants her to comeback by his sides from her own will but he always acts intimate with the other girl. But I’m also moved by all the things he did for her (the house, her necklace (that costs a lot, but I like it not because of its value but the fact that he scares to lost her one more time, now he can find her even if she’s in the space), when he bought the factory to research the medecine to cure her disease…)
But I had the 2nd lead syndrome. He is just the best buddy.
It’s a great book, but too much “you must to prove that you love me”, “I don’t want to be hurt again”.

Ok…tis is one story I sun click with…sorry…but I just dun get it…..first the writer is so long winded…but
Yes what’s with the male lead??????? Attitude problem…can’t he see that he is responsible for 50% of the problem…oh sure the female lead is at fault too….but the way he takes his revenge is just too /(4(4?;)(,):?:)!!!!!!
I’m only at chpt 18 and I’m skipping half the words…I just wanna know the ending…..sheesh….the stupid yi xin and her baby…..just who the world is the father???

Wait let me finish and u’ll rant Somemore!!!! I’m losing it reading this book 🙁

Oky….I’ve totally given up reading at chpt 18…. Can someone pls spoil me with the ending….who’s the father of yi xin’s bb and how the the two clowns of a lead finally get together….. I’m just tooooo peeved with this whole book….

Thanks…..sorry..I just dun see why they are listed as most loving?? He’s doing things to hurt her in the name of trying to get her to his side….I dun think the things he did are sweet…more like manipulative….sorry…maybe I’m just too annoyed with the male lead…

@Pm I agree with you and know how you feel because I feel the same when I read this book. That’s why I like the 2nd guy more. As I said in my previous comment, he always wants her to comeback by his side without any hesitation. But how can she do it when he doesn’t end his relationship with his so called fiancé. That’s what I hate the most.

Oky..I shall not throw eggs…..bongsd..thanks but it’s oky…dun hv to summarize..I trudged and skimmed thru the book quickly and got my answers…..well….while grinding my teeth!!!!

I’m sorry..but I HATE this book!!!! Totally totally hate it. First the writer is so long winded…re writing the lyrics of some songs and over describing certain that’s and emotions.

This couple is totally dysfunctional and well….their love is also dysfunctional….I can only say the positive thing is that the held on to their love for 10 yrs…..but holding on to it is one….expressing such love in such a ridiculous way is psychotic!!!! I do not recommend this book…sorry….. :p

Eg: ZNX (male lead) uses YX (2nd female lead) to get back at WN (female lead). He goes as far as publicizing their wedding to the whole city, coz she’s an actress……he wants WN to prove her love by trashing the wedding and stopping it… And after tat…..he gives her a ring but disappears..for what reason? Payback time?

WN also suffered badly…worse than him I feel….all he suffered was his ego and love trampled…she did say she loved him but he was not satisfied….. When WN asked for a breakup in their teenage years.coz she found out her sister also loved him…..he retaliated by kissing her best fren…..which led to a chain of accidents…..their dads dying coz they were trying to rush back to pacify their kids, WN had to still endure her sister’s attempted suicide……she suffered both a betrayal by her best fren and boyfriend, her dad and his dads death….and an attempted suicide….which she started blaming herself n went into depression…..she bore all these by herself…

And mr ego is complaining that she caused him immense grief by disappearing for 7 yrs and when she returns he complains she didn’t try to win him back and stuff…..like duh!!!! She comes bk coz she finds out u r getting engaged to her ex best fren,,,,,,and u treat her like trash…n u still expect her to fight for your love again?? I salute her for not being the third party to breakup ur engagement..and u blame her for not fighting for your love??!! U scheme to make her upset so she will stay by ur side…..hey…shes got a heart comdition…and u still make her upset…she was depresssed till ahe had to see a shrink for abt a year…and u still force her and torment her… How loving……Dysfunctional!!!!

Oky..I. Sorry for ranting…this story gets my nerves upset…..

    Pm February 27, 2014 at 3:02 pm |

Oky read ur summary….And no…I still dun think its loving….it’s totally dysfunctional……

His disappearing is like a tit for tat game…..she disappears so he must do the same to her to let her kw what it feels like?! Where is the man In him to be a shelter and security for her?

But honestly…..would any girl try to break up a wedding of the guy she loves? She’s not even sure of his feelings and depth of his love for her at this point rite? Likes he’s all cuddly and lovey dovey with yi xin while at the same time wanting her…..

    Yes…I’ve found my annoying closure….

    Thanks a million bongsd…..:)

Haha…this guy is sure for me……to trash, humiliate and rant at…hahaha….
But yes…. Read at ur own risk of rising blood pressure and irritance…..yes…pls make a big warning….this book is not loving at all!!

Btw…one more annoying comment……bongsd….how can he expect her to come and snatch him back after making her think that yi xin pregnant with his baby???!!!!! All along they have led everyone to believe that yi xin is carrying his child….which evil woman wants to break up a family??!! Oh I just so dislike..no..I just so hate this guy!!!!

Yes yi Chen any day….he just patiently waited for 7 yrs with no other girl by his side…..that is called loving…..and no mean tit for tat treatment either.
    Oky…I need a fluffy lovey dovey book…..

I completely agree with PM. I wanted very much to like this book but I just couldn’t because the male lead makes me want to strangle him. He’s completely awful! His only redeeming trait is that he is persistent. He has held onto this ‘love’ (or obsession, perhaps?) for 10 years. He seems to be a pretty self-absorbed person as he is always focusing on how she hurt him by leaving and how she doesn’t put effort into their relationship and their love. However, he has never tried to be understanding of her and to consider how she might have felt. She was still quite young when she found out about her sister’s feelings and everything just spiraled out of control. He faults her for running away when her world was falling apart? Additionally, when she musters her courage to face their relationship honestly then he decides to test her and make her suffer? I think he’s completely whacko. Personally, for me, a good male lead is 60% of the story. I want someone that makes me swoon and all giddy (a prince charming, if I may) but…

I came across a clip for a YouTube drama. But I don’t want to watch the drama completely – I like reading more, and I don’t have time for 46 episodes. The book is not bad, and I like the author’s style, I will read his other works. The plot is of the type I love and hate, although not my favorite, but you can live. The gradual development of events, the discovery of old secrets … The plot is generally balanced, but the protracted revenge of the protagonist Zhan Nanxian began to annoy a little.
Practically more than until the middle of the book I understood and could justify his actions. But the situation with the press conference and the subsequent illness of the heroine Wen Xiao began to annoy his childish behavior. I wanted to hit him with something. I was heartily pleased with the scene in the church)))) And even encouraged me to update my knowledge of the religions of China.
In some ways, the storyline is similar, from my point of view, to SILENT SEPARATION GU MAN, but He Yi Chen commands more respect
The book awakened different emotions from laughter to tears. I do not regret reading it

I decided to write another review for this book. My first review was spontaneous and was written on the second day after reading. It is not sufficiently meaningful and superficial. The first reading was difficult, with many depressing emotions. Now, having re-read the book for probably the third time, I understand that I did not immediately understand the depth of the characters’ feelings, in particular Zhan Nanxian. The whole book is like a huge puzzle and it cannot be judged right away without reading it to the end. In fact, all of Zhan Nanxian’s actions, for which he is so criticized, were dictated by the actions of Wen Xiao. I still understand her pain, but now I understand both his pain and the essence of his actions. I definitely liked the book. And if for someone this is an indicator, I already ordered a paper version for myself, before that I had only MBFB books. I highly recommend reading and rereading this work.
