A Dream Amid the Rich and Prestigious 3: Several Years is Still Not Late 豪门惊梦 III : 素年不相迟 by 殷寻 Cherry Yin Xun (HE)

imageHe is a famous diamond supplier. She is a psychoanalyst who gets a glimpse of people’s mental health through dream interpretation. Two people who have nothing in common got their fate linked because of a bizarre case.

He squeezed her jaw: “Did I become the object of your research?”

She gave a dazzling and alluring smile, immersing herself in his breath: “Mr Nian, aren’t you still living perfectly all right? Currently, I’m only interested in the last dream of the deceased. As for you and me, it’s just a game. If we can afford to play, we will be happy and satisfied. If we cannot afford to play, then get lost!”

He remained calm and collected: “Su Ye, I’m Nian Bai Yan, so you really may not be able to afford to play this game.”

Nian Bai Yan is very demanding in his approach to work and treatment of staff. He is the most unreasonable man yet he can make women go crazy about him. Su Ye is a controversial woman. She appears to only care about money but in reality she is stubborn and soft-hearted, making people feel sorry for her.

Dreams, memories, the subconscious and the business battles behind those shining jewels. The layer upon layer collision of treacherous psychological warfare. How to find out the truth when figuring out who is genuine and who is pretentious? Do you think what you saw is the truth? Perhaps, it is fake. Do you think what you heard is true? Perhaps, it is false. Are you real? Perhaps, you are also a phoney!

Meeting each other several years later is the fate between you and me. Even if the flower has blossomed, it is still not late. Life is like a dream and dream is like life. The power struggle amid the rich and prestigious, opposition between love and hate, are all merely a dream which you’ve to awaken from.

116th chapter for the first kiss reminded me of some K dramas where the leads have theirs at the last eps……..isnt there a C drama adapted from this novel starring Rain and Tang Yan?

Rain & TY’s drama is not adapted fr this novel. It is just a coincidence that both are in the diamond trade. Bong said Mr Nian is a lot more handsome than Rain lol. There could be a drama on it so stay tune who’ll be Mr Nian 🙂

hello! what a coincidence that you posted a book by this author because i was looking at another book written by the same author – 神秘男上司的邀请. have you read this book before?

yup i like reading the books by this author although it can be dog blood but i like her writing style. so far i have read 大寰妤: 许我倾室江山 and 总裁十恶不赦 (this one is a 养父养女 story though).

oh dear my first comment was deleted i think.

bongsd: thanks for your recommendation, will check out this book after reading 神秘男上司的邀请.

大寰妤: 许我倾室江山: yup this has an ancient setting. in fact it was my first book by this author since it was recommended in shushengbar,

总裁十恶不赦: the main guy did have a relationship with the main girl’s mother. SPOILER: the main guy was raised by wolves as a child and didn’t have much understanding of human relationships. later on, he was accepted into a gang as a teenager. the girl’s mother was the lover of the gang boss, she was also the first woman he met. she was nice to him like how an older sister would be to a sibling. so he probably confused romantic and familial love and was obsessed with her. the main girl couldn’t accept the relationship between her mother and the guy. after both of them realized their true feelings, they reaffirmed their love for each other. yup but this book has two taboo relationships – adopted father & daughter (although he didn’t interact much with her initially) and mother was the previous lover of the guy.

Thanks Bongsd and Peanuts for the info. No wonder when I watch the trailer with Rain he was speaking in Korean language hence I thot Mr Nian in the book should be Chinese. Now Ive changed my mind and will put this in my To Read list and the other two books you have recommended tho the many chapters are quite a deterrent…..:)

The one to translate this novel is like committing suicide bcos the book is so long, it even crushed my apps 🙁

I’ve been reading this using @voice reader android app on my mobile phone. Love this book as the twists and turns are very well written and unexpected. One of the best books that I’ve ever read. Highly recommended.

@Yui No hope, but you can wait a few years for the drama. 🙂

@Peanuts Only voted once. Seriously, you think I’m like you? 😀

@Yukikumori If you like this book, I highly recommend 《七年顾初如北》by the same author. The main guy is Mr Nian’s friend. He is the guy who bought the earrings in Mongolia. He gives it back later as wedding gift. The story is also abt Nian Bai Yan’s assistant and his friend. But they are minor characters. Until now (344 chapters), the story is great but Yin Xun is still writing it.

Happy new year Bongsd! Ah yes, xue tong’s story. I want to read it only after Yin Xun has completed the story. Anyway I’m still reading this book. It is very dog blood but I like it because the story is so well written. The plot is tight, and the characters are all well developed with lots of twists and turns. Su Ye is not your typical heroine. She has lots of flaws and therefore a realistic character. Have you read book ii ? Is it any good?

P/s: I think the actor that should play Nian Bo Yen should be Daniel Henny.

Thank you Yukikumori! Hope 2016 is a great year for you too.

I’ve read a lot positive comments abt book II. But since I can’t read chinese I have to wait for the translator to finish translating it. She has translated abt 80% of the novel. But I’ve read that the main guy of book 2 is very popular and loved by Yin Xun’s fans. So I can’t wait to know more abt him and his story.

Daniel looks good. His age is also perfect to be NBY. But it’s not easy to find someone who can play Su Ye. She is smart and beautiful. But the most important she will never let someone to step on her toes. She knows when to be sweet and gentle, when to be strong and fierce. That’s why I love this book so much. Hehe

Hi Bongsd, many thanks for your reply. Is book ii being translated into English? Although I understand mandarin but there are many words that are too complex for me (especially the yellow bits 😀 so the content’s spiciness level gets unwittingly reduced! I wanted to translate this book but got stuck at chap 1. I couldn’t translate a lot of the words and Google and bing translations were useless… I guess I have to do this maybe a year or more later when my Chinese is better??!

If someone wants to work with me please let me know.

You’re welcome. I’m reading the viet translation. I don’t think there is any english translation of her novels. Don’t forget to tell me if you decide to translate her novel. I can’t help anything because my english and my viet are all average but I will support you ^^

Many thanks Bongsd. I’m listening to mandarin version of book ii. Not as good as book iii but IMHO still so much better than any other books. Once I finish book ii I will try her other books. Her female leads are all strong, smart and realistic and the plots are well thought out. I’m still very surprised that she is not more popular.

I read 七年顾初如北 to the latest. I am dying to know how many chapters more! I am also reading book ii. So far if I were to compare, I like Lu Bei Chen most still.

    Yukikumori February 13, 2016 at 1:25 am |

Hi Lovelet, ummm, lu bei chen is the main lead in which book? I would love to read it after finishing book ii. My ability to read chinese is so poor that I can’t navigate my way through Chinese websites. My only way of finding a book is by copying and pasting the Chinese title on Google : ( so right now I don’t have a list of all the books by this author…. I would be grateful if anyone could provide a list. 🙂

@Yukikumori Here is a list of her novels : http://www.xs8.cn/author/18326.html
    http://www.baike.com/wiki/殷寻
I really recommend 神秘男上司的邀请. She is not as popular as Gu Man or Ding Mo but I like her writing style. I think a lot of people dislike her because of the explicit H scenes in her first books.
I know she writes some novels under another nickname. I will give you when I find it in chinese. 🙂

Lu Bei Chen is in 七年顾初如北. She is still writing it. Not finished. So HE or SE is still a big question.

@Lovelet, I’m going crazy soon. I think I’ve never hated CNY this much. Why the new year holidays are so long? I’m counting everyday until Feb 18 for her to post again. Lu Bei Chen is awesome ! My poor Bei Chen, love him so much. Nian Bai Yan and Lu Bei Chen are my fav main guys.

She goes by another name as古刹.. Her H scene dun like can skip.. But she does write more mature story lines, including how the main lead handles the female lead initially.

@Yukikumori you can baidu her name and find her stories.

@bongsd, I am dying to know about Lu Bei Sheng! so far her story are HE. Fingers crossed. I wonder how long more before story ends.

Hi Bongsd and Lovelet, thank you so much for helping. I personally like her stories very much even though they are so wretchedly long because she takes the time to develop the leads and supporting characters and there are a lot of realism in her stories. I can therefore relate to her stories and she is such an excellent author. I’ve read a lot of romance novels but she still manages to surprise me with the twists and turns and fresh ideas I cannot like her enough and I think she deserves to be more popular.

Hi Bongsd, I’ve finished book ii and am reading the epilogue of 神秘男上司的邀请. I rank book ii last as unfortunately I didn’t like what happened to the second lead and I thought the ending was too abrupt. There was no epilogue (or is there an epilogue but the website that I used didn’t publish any?). I enjoyed 神秘男上司的邀请and the epilogue has story of 2 couples – Qi Ying Yan (who was Nian Bo Yen ‘s defence lawyer) and Liu Li (who appeared at the end of book iii) and Louis Lie and Wei Ru – but book iii is still my favourite. The ranking may change after I read more books from Yin Xun I will read 《七年顾初如北》once it is completed.

Definitely read 《七年顾初如北》. The leads are awesome, hope it ends up HE. I want to read this book 3 now, after reading all your comments. I read book 1 and book 2 already, book 2 ending is not great, but I read on a chinese site that she modified it when it was published.

    Yukikumori March 17, 2016 at 3:36 pm |

Yes book 3 is very very good. I have just started reading book 1. So far it is ok. Will read author’s latest book once it is completed. I am too impatient to wait for daily release. and I want to read only books with HE.
