I think its because of the “unrequited love” theme.
I’ve know about the manhwa first but got bored because it took a very long while for it to get moving, then I found the translations and yes, just the same it took 500 f*eakin chapters before they realize the truth (according to some reviews).
    …anyways…

Qidian is actually partially owned by Tencent, but this web novel definitely have the most cross platform promotion I’ve seen.

My friend rec’ed the manhua to me last year? or the year before? The art was pretty good and it started off with a bang. The manga had decent art. I went to read the novel instead because there weren’t that many manga chapters out. Definitely a trashy guilty pleasure read, I skim read maybe 1/5 of it and could not take it anymore. Considering the incredibly cliche and melodramatic plot devices it used, I was so surprised that find out it was written in 2014. I thought it was writen in early 00s.

The anime had terrible dubbing and pretty eh art, and I think an art change in season 3 but I only watched one episode of season 1 so mhm. The drama is a web drama, cutesy-ish and clearly aimed at tweens, acting is passable for what it is I guess. I watched four episode out of curiosity and told myself not to watch anymore because it doesn’t go anywhere good.

This drama seems more like a guilty pleasure to watch. Don’t think the Female/Male leads would win any awards for their portrayal, as well the acting really wasn’t that great. The male actor is very good looking, but the female lead looks more like an elder sister or even the actor’s mother.
So I can’t seem to believe that the male lead would fall in love with her so much, as her looks and personality did not seem to stand out in any way whatsoever. She is not exactly the bubbly type, nor is she actually beautiful at all. So I can’t see the attraction.

I thought the male lead had more chemistry with the second female lead. But even the second Male and Female lead’s acting needs a lot of improvement.

If it wasn’t for the very good looking male leads, I doubt I would continue to watch the drama. It just seems like, if the two main leads would just talk to each other instead of using infer what the other party meant when they talk to others….
then again, if they did talk, there would be no plot, since the plot is based on miscommunication and misunderstanding on both characters.
