In the mid-to-late 1990s, Pinghai National cotton factory went bankrupt and liquidated, and the workers’ resettlement fees were delayed. Rumors of corruption spread among the factory director Xiao Geng Shi. Worker Jiao Tong Sheng had been collecting evidence of Xiao Geng Shi’s corruption, but drowned on a rainy night. Luo Shi Xiang, the police officer in charge of the case, quickly launched an investigation. After investigation, he found that Jiao Tong Sheng’s death was related to his collection of evidence of corruption, and gradually locked in the suspect Xiao Geng Shi. At this time, Jiao Tong Sheng’s daughter Lin Shuang Sheng began to silently check clues because she suspected her father’s sudden drowning death, trying to provide effective evidence to the police.
Xiao Geng Shi learned that Luo Shi Xiang had been investigating him, and Lin Shuang Sheng was also pressing him step by step. On the one hand, he threatened and attacked Lin Shuang Sheng, and on the other hand, he tried to buy and use Luo Shi Xiang. In order to bring the bad guys to justice, Luo Shi Xiang was willing to be misunderstood and took the opportunity to get close to Xiao Geng Shi to gradually collect evidence. Although Lin Shuang Sheng retreated halfway, she was eventually moved by the police and her friends and assisted the police in fighting Xiao Geng Shi to the end.
With Luo Shi Xiang’s efforts and Lin Shuang Sheng’s perseverance, Xiao Geng Shi was brought to justice, and the workers received the resettlement fees they deserved and started a new life.
