it had a sad ending as far as I can remember it.
Is it the same with the novel, do they have a sad ending?
I didn't read the novel or watch the drama. According to what I read online, the novel has a happy ending. The drama is more confusing because there maybe a part 2. But maybe not because the drama wanna reflect reality in that it is not happily ever after for those marrying into rich families.
Normally president text novels have happy ending. Only in rare cases, they've sad ending. But the drama adaptation can be different because of the censorship in China. They wanna discourage young impressionable girls of dreaming of marrying into rich families.

Waste my time man... I was though there will be continue story but it is hang in the middle. I doubt there is season 2 or sequel since it is produced in 2017. Probably want the audiences to guess the ending by themselves. Really stupid....
This is the worst drama I watch, worse than horror movies. Since, it's just a drama why not make the ending happy? If the two didn't make it up till the end, then it should be better too if hi jin xi didnt succeed. Hoping for season 2.
