Nan Fuguang is the senior disciple of the Yun Tian Sect, and her master is Yan Ji’an, a celestial lord known as the True Dragon in human form and the only cultivator in the Six Realms and Three Paths to have reached the Transformation stage.
Yan Ji’an is not fond of speaking and usually keeps others at a distance. However, legend has it that on the day the True Dragon ascends and gains its golden scales, a Divine Phoenix must endure the heavenly tribulation alongside it to ensure peace for all living beings.
For centuries since the celestial lord descended, no Divine Phoenix has appeared. By Yan Ji’an’s side, there has only ever been one disciple, Nan Fuguang whose only connection to the Divine Phoenix lies in the fact that she happens to be female.
The Yun Tian Sect tacitly assumed that Nan Fuguang was the destined substitute for the Divine Phoenix. Years ago, they even wrote her name alongside Yan Ji’an’s and hung it on the Sect’s matchmaking tree behind the mountain.
Yan Ji’an never objected.
Nan Fuguang never resisted.
As a result, Nan Fuguang spent her days playing with cats and teasing dogs, neglecting serious cultivation. She relied on her master (and future Dao partner)’s prestigious position to act high and mighty within the Sect.
That is, until one day when Yan Ji’an suddenly took on a junior disciple. Rumor had it that a century ago, someone had saved Yan Ji’an’s life, and he had been searching for this person ever since.
