I was attracted by the book cover and picked this up in library thinking it’s a the typical school love story but was wrong. If you think “沥川往事” is sad, then you will feel for Gu Ming Xi. This story talk about the close friendship between two childhood friend through the years, trials they faced before finding each other again. I find the story pretty realistic though some may not like it as it’s a handicapped love story.

I find it sadder than “沥川” (Gu Ming Xi lost both his arm during an accident when he was young) but yes, it’s a happy ending!

I haven't read the entirety of Ostrich yet, but…
Honestly, aside from the male lead, I don't think it's that similar to Lichuan (as I remember it). Ostrich moves slower, and it's a lot lighter and more 'everyday.' I think the first half of the story is spent developing the relationship between the leads, spanning their birth through high school. Sometimes it's sweet, sometimes comedic, sometimes awkward, and rather heart-aching too. Though they do eventually go separate ways (before reuniting), it's for different reasons to Lichuan. And I think the ending will come more naturally here.

At first i thought “What! seriously? That can’t be possible”…But later i find the story is very touching and heartwarming…I don’t like the weak feamle lead who doesn’t know what she want or what she have to do…In this novel female lead is strong minded and really really loveable..She is the person who know what she want and what she have to do… When i finished the novel i thought the author is beautifully romancing the characters. And i also thought that sometimes Love is really powerful and when u think that u don’t deserve the love because of your condition or your appearance or whatever the reason u think, that’s not true…Love can find a way to u and u will be happy beacuse of the person who love u unconditionally…
Loved it very very much though cried a lot when GMX lost his mother….still I wud love to read it again n again!
I finished it…..and I loved it……….I felt more for gmx more than lichuan…….gmx went thru a lot more hardships and experience than rich boy lichuan….

I love this story so far, so realistic but slowly draw you in to love it. Though the progress is slow but character development and the story feels like you grow up with them, sharing their story of life, hearing their hardship, rooting for them when they are down, crying with them when they are facing their trial. I would say the male lead really surpassed everything I would think of someone with the same disability. Also made me thankful for what I’ve been given, trying not to take it for granted.
I read the English translation and couldn’t wait so I decided to use google translate to read the rest. This story has its moment of comedy, a bit of angst especially closer to the end, but most of all, the story gave me such heartache. At certain points in the story, I shed a couple of tears for Mingxi. There’s not a whole lot of romance but rather more of a story about a boy who beats the odds that were stacked mountain high against him and came up on top. I love Pang Pang too, once she realized what is true love and who she loves she was steadfast and refused to waver. I love this book and wished I could read Chinese so I could buy the book with its beautiful cover.
This book is so good and heart touching! If it ever becomes a drama, I’d definitely watch it! (that is if they follow the plot thoroughly)And that’s from someone who doesn’t watch dramas that much unless they’re really good.
This book is so heartwarming. I cried so many times but will definitely read it again. I wish I could read Chinese so I could read the original version.
This novel really touches the heart and soul. I read Li Chuan and although it is a good read but it does not have the extra something like this book. I read this translation a few times and i cry on the number of times i read it. I do not read Chinese and i am thankful to the translator for the effort.
Great novel ….so heart touching , made me cry like a baby . When I read this novel , I feel like I’m watching a drama on TV … the story is so detailed and while you’re reading it you can feel the pain in your heart what Gu Mingxie through .
Happy ending but the plot kind of slow, I find my self finish this off with struggling but its worth! It ends beautifully
