Palace Story/ The Job of an Imperial Concubine 宫廷记事/ 妃嫔这职业 by 月下蝶影 Yue Xia Die Ying

Lady Luoyan from Zhuang family is only one of numerous women in the palace. She is neither the most beautiful nor the most talented among those women. But she knows more about how to keep her heart and understands more about the emperor. She smiles with light in her eyes; every twinkle and smile seems to be love for the emperor. But no one but she knows she is the only who sees through the palace thoroughly. There is no love in the palace, nor sympathy and friendship. When you are consolidated at every step, others will give a cunning response. The one who laughs in the end will generally be the calmest one. Love is only a joke in the palace. What she wants is only glory and splendor step by step.

  • Any thoughts on this novel? Is it worth reading/listening to? The synopsis sounds pretty bleak. An inner palace chess match for power. No love, no passion, no feelings, just calculated masks one must wear in front of the Emperor in order to survive. It's probably the sad reality, but sad, nonetheless.

  • @Peanuts, I'm having trouble listening to the audiobook on the link you linked, does it work for you or do you have another place I can listen to the full novel? Ximalaya has 8 chapters out only =(

  • According to the comments from the ebook website and comments on another reading site I go to, it seems like a decent one. Some even went back and reread the story. There was one comment that the female lead is a strong character not the typical silly rabbit in palace stories.

  • @xnekox, I think due to copyright crackdown all the links are dead. Also, a lot of audiobooks are now only available if you download their apps. You can try downloading the apps for the new link I've now attached but no guarantee that it'll work. Also, you can try searching for this novel in ximalaya apps.
