Perhaps someone else is your secret, or perhaps you are someone else’s secret. But when the answer is actually in front of you, would you be willing to make it known? Song Yi rushed ten thousand miles to spend Christmas Eve with Su Man, the two of them consented tacitly to their relationship. Su Man was extremely happy, but when she returned, everything had already changed. Her best friend Ma La Tang was no longer a carefree girl, and Song Yi had actually become Ma La Tang’s boyfriend… Mishaps happen to Su Man, one after another. What kind of ending will their romance have? How should they choose to spend the rest of their lives?

I read the Cliff’s Notes version of this on koala’s playground and decided to stay away due to the ending. Hopefully, Wallace will have a better ending in the drama than his character in the book. If not, no worries, I’m still available!! (naughty wink~)♥♥♥

Hey xia0yuer, are you listening to the new audiobook on cx8 website? How is the quality? After Once Promised, are you suffering from Tong Hua withdrawal, heehee? After finding out the ending from koala’s playground, I am not keen at all on this book. I can’t bear to listen to this book knowing Wallace doesn’t end up with Su Man:( Instead I’ll wait for Wallace to sweep Su Man and me off our feet on screen, haha…Btw lidge, if Su Man doesn’t want Wallace, xia0yuer is in front of you in the queue:P

Hahaha, yes, Wallace is all MINE MINE MINE! *______*

I only posted this because I saw that cxt8 was rereading the book and thought that maybe some Tong Hua fans would like to give this a twirl. Some news station read a few choice excerpts from the book before (like what they did with Yun Zhong Ge) and I listened to that when I heard that Wallace was going to star as Lu Li Cheng in the drama adaptation. Su Man turned from slightly annoying to downright idiotic through the course of the story… The version I listened to skipped almost all the LLC and Su Man scenes so I might read the book in its entirety if I get really bored one day.

Busybody peanuts just gave the reread a try. I feel the reread is only average as the voices lack feelings. Also, it focuses too much on Song Yi which makes me wonder if the book is also mostly on him. Hopefully the drama is all abt Lu Li Cheng:) This is definitely inferior to Twice Blooming Flower & He Yi Sheng Zhao Mo as I don’t think Tong Hua is good with modern novel.

xia0yuer, you’re too busy translating stuff and won’t have time for Wallace. It’s not fair for him. He needs someone who can give him her complete attention (coughMEcough) XDXD.

One thing I’m confused about is who’s the main guy? I had assumed that LLC is the main since Wallace is playing him in the drama, but then I read on koala’s that the main girl chooses the other guy in the end? What? Why?!!

Well, main or supporting, Wallace better has lots of screen time. My preference is Wallace all alone and broody with the theme song in the background…hehe.

I’m translating stuff for your reading pleasure. How can you use that against me? T.T

I called dibs on Wallace wayyyyyyy before you did. The only person who has dibs on Wallace before me is Melanie, but luckily, she’s not fighting with me for him right now. 😛

So LLC is the male lead, but Song Yi gets the girl in the end. LLC gets the most scenes with Su Man. It’s like how Meng Jue was the male lead in YZG but Ling Ge’ge was the one who actually had Yun Ge’s love. Except LLC is 100000X better to Su Man than Meng Jue was to Yun Ge. Su Man is a total idiot for not seeing how awesome LLC is and choosing that cheating bastard Song Yi over such a wonderful man.

I bet that Wallace will get a lot more screen time than Song Yi and that he will have a happy ending, because I heard that fans got to vote for the ending. 😀

Hellllllo!!! I’m back. Made a stop at Monterey Park, Cali and didn’t have time to go to a book store. Oh well….

I love Tong Hua and all, but I can’t do this novel. I feel like I’d pull out all my hair at the end. I love how the drama is turning out though. Wallace is HOT and his chemistry with Janine is sizzling. I love Janine too.

I don’t mind a girl going all out of her way to chase a crush because sometimes I think we all do stupid things once in our lifetime, especially in regards to love, but after meeting such a hot man as LLC, how can she still choose her crush? That, I can’t relate with. I hope the drama will change this portion. Heard that Tong Hua’s other novel, the Youth We can’t Return To has better reviews, anyone read that before?

No need to fight girls bcos Wallace should be mind since I like & support him since his TVB days:P I saw Journey of Love & fell for him immediately when he was not famous & still young. Although we separated & lost touch in between the yrs, we utimately met up again in Too Late To Say I Love You:P Like the storyline in He Yi Sheng Zhao Mo, we’ve reunited & should get married, hahah….ya ya I am too ga ga into that book so I am day dreaming now, heehee…

Did TH say LLC is the male lead? I think SY has more scenes than him in the story. It is more like LLC is Ling gege & SY is Meng Jue but he gets the girl as well. Anyway the impt thing is the drama is totally the opposite so we can share Wallace on screen, haha…Pls release it faster as I am have a drama drought now:( This is one adapation where I don’t mind they changed the most impt part of the story but hand off HXY:)

I just can’t get into any drama period. Feel that secrets will b different. Peanuts u do go long way back with him, but, sometimes love only needs a few glance to capture your soul. =P I think i ship the Peanut/Wallace more though since i like reunion.

I think llc is main person and sm and sy are just people he has passed. His love for sm will become buried by time.

*crycrycry* Nooooooo, Wallace, you can’t go with peanut!!! Even though peanut may have loved you longer, my love for you is surely deeper than hers. <—— Sounds like something a second female lead would say….

I think I read somewhere (maybe in spcnet forum or Youtube comments) that LLC is the male lead. I wish LLC actually told Su Man about her feelings rather than keeping them a secret for so long. T.T

Hey lidge, it seems that most of the novels I read also will be made into tv drama but so far I’ve not seen or heard much on them. Eventhough the story is bad, I’ll watch it if the cast is eye candy like Wallace in Secrets. If the story is good like XYW’s novels but with ugly casts, then I will not touch it, lol. Btw I read Secrets will be shown at the weekend next yr on Hunan TV. Looking fwd to it. But Wallace looks really bad in DGSD so I gonna skip that. Plan to watch Swordsman not for Wallace Huo but for Chen Xiao, lol.

No offences after i read this book as i personally think that song yi doesn’t suit su man at all…. Song yi only loves xu qiu from the past to the future… Lu li cheng put in so much time and effort for su man and he is the one of the kind of the good guy that all girls want. Lu li cheng cares about su man feelings but song yi, he doesn’t. He admit that he like su man but when he saw xu ling shuang he deceide to give up su man. that is not what a guy should do to a girl that has a crush on the girl so such a long period of time. i know how its feels to have a crush on a guy and maybe in your whole entire life the guy will not even know and maybe he doesn’t even like you even if he knew that he wont even respond. i know when tong hua wrote this book is to encourage the girls who have crush on other guys to be more brave and maybe tell the guy about it.but in real life, the story ending will not be as wonderful as you and your crush will end up happily ever after you know… Most likely, it will be like su man ending up with lu li cheng as in real life story will not be so wonderful… but i think that lu li cheng effort given is a lot he deserve to be with su man 🙂

I didn’t read the book bcos after I found out Su Man will end up with Song Yi, I don’t want to read it:( But the drama version will be good as my 6th sense tells me she’ll end up with LLC, my Wallace Chung, lol. Looking fwd to watch the drama which should be out soon, hopefully.

At last, I am back from my holidays. So tiring yet I managed to watch a few episodes of this drama. I knew many ppl who have given up on it. Honestly, the drama is childish and irritating. I am very annoyed with Janine’s character as well as the dubbing. That other guy is no doubt good looking but his acting or character is such a bored. I fast forwarded everything except Wallace. Ok, I am bias so I’ll continue to watch but only Wallace’s parts lol. Viki has English subs but the uploading is slower so I only included the youtube link.

Whoa, I can’t believe I missed this fight for Wallace! Well, I am no longer available technically, but I can make myself available if Wallace were to suddenly show interest in me. 😛

Hey, so I’m up to episode 11 on this series. Thanks for posting the link, peanuts.

I like the series! It doesn’t have a profound plot. Mainly, it’s a funny, fluff piece, but it’s a nice break from the serious, heart-wrenching dramas that Wallace usually stars in.

Wallace Chung is very handsome in his suits as Lu Li Cheng. The other guy who plays Song Yi is not as handsome, in my biased opinion, because of his stoned look and bad hairstyle. Janine Chang is relatively cute, but not quite as pretty as I thought she would be. I think this is due to her bad outfits. Some of her wardrobe is really nice, and some not so nice. If they had dressed her up in classier outfits, Janine would have been a stunner. The actress who plays Su Man’s best friend is very sexy and beautiful.

I haven’t read the novel, so I don’t know how faithful plot-wise this drama is to the novel. However, so far, it’s mainly about Su Man (Janine Chang) demoting herself from her original managerial position at her best friend’s company and coming to work as an entry level employee at the company where Song Yi works at so that she could chase after him. Song Yi is oblivious to her romantically. Ironically, she attracts the attention of Lu Li Cheng (Wallace Chung), her direct superior. Su Man and Lu Li Cheng’s bickering is hilarious. Just as Song Yi is oblivious to Su Man’s interest in him, Su Man is oblivious to Lu Li Cheng’s obvious interest in her. She keeps trying to leave Lu Li Cheng’s team so that she could join Song Yi’s team, yet Lu Li Cheng tries his best to keep her at his side. Is anyone here familiar with peanuts and lidge’s English translation of Gu Man’s novel, Come and Eat, Shan Shan? I have been following this translation and find Lu Li Cheng somewhat similar to Feng Teng, the male lead in Come and Eat, Shan Shan. Both are very suave and handsome, serious on the outside but mischievous on the inside. Both are very cut-throat and competent businessmen. And both are very conspicuously interested in their female leads (Shan Shan for Feng Teng, and Su Man for Lu Li Cheng), trying all sorts of hilarious ways to keep their women by their sides.

Surprisingly, Song Yi is not as irritating as I thought he would be. I have heard from people who have read the novel that he would be a jerk, but so far, he is simply a boring guy with an empty stare. He seems also very competent at work and very regretful of his role in his late girlfriend’s death. Other than that, he just appears to be any typical, uninteresting guy.

One of my favorite Wallace scenes is when he is dressed in his cotton PJs and wearing his big-rimmed, dorky glasses. Ohhh! He looks so geeky, intelligent, and huggable, yet very handsome! (I like handsome, intelligent men in glasses.)

OMG, this is the most fustrating ending I’ve ever seen, so open-ended you might as well don’t film it. Episode 47 which is the last episode is redundant except for the nice songs & nice flowers. The comments in youtube are in uproar as nobody is happy with the ending. I tried to watch it at a Chinese site and it is the same ending.

Is Hunan TV trying to please everyone so you can construct your own ending in your mind or interpret it whichever way you like as in who you support? Or are they trying to be artistic telling us there is no certainty or ending in life so life goes on? When I invested many hrs on a drama, I want something more clear-cut, be it good or bad. At least the book has a bad ending as per my interpretation.

Then I read in baidu that WC said there will be a different ending availabe online on sohu later. The alternate endings will be available on sohu on 26 Dec & 31 Dec. Why make me wait so long & why on sohu? By that time, I probably can’t be bother to tune in. I read before that 3 endings were filmed and Hunan TV chose the most crappy one to broadcast, well done:P

Alternate ending which follows the novel:( http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XNjUzMzk5MjA4.html
