Blame you Being Too Beautiful (We Are All Alone) 怪你过分美丽 by 未再 Wei Zai (HE)

Mo Xiang Wan mixes with the wrong crowd due to the lack of warmth in her broken family. She has never considered her one crazy encounter in her wild youth as a mistake. Instead she sees Fei Fei as an angel who comes to rescue her from her fallen lifestyle, provide love and support for her after her family dessertion and accompany her when she is lonely and living an indifference life in the bright light big city of Shanghai.

She takes 8 years to establish her career in a managerial position in the entertainment business and is also doing competently as a single mother. However her once calm life which has taken her a long time to rebuild, becomes turbulent again with the untimely appearance of Fei Fei’s father, Mo Bei. They do not have any kind of relationship before. If there is really a mistake in the past, the mistake is he is the guy who gave life to Fei Fei.

This is a  positive story about two young people making mistakes in their youth. Then they meet again after a few years of growing up to redeem themselves. Coupled with some endearing and realistic supporting characters as well as an insightful account of the entertainment business make this book an addictive and interesting read for me.

I am very busy reading this book:) I finished half of the book in a day with google:P The story is nothing special but I like the writer’s style. Her language is simple & insightful, never preachy or long winded. The novel also flows really well with minimal flashbacks. Her characters are lively & relatable. The bits on the entertaining business is very relevant & interesting for a die hard fan like me, lol. There is also humour which is subtle & warm:) She is something like an improved version of XYW:P

Hey Lidge, is there a Viet translated version? If yes, I am 99% sure you’ve read it. If not, then you’ve missed something good, haha…

*sigh* another book without an audiobook. Our novel addiction doesn’t let that stop us does it? lol

I am using my lunch break to read this book now:P Actually I find it faster & easier to read books with google than listen to the audio books. The audio books are entertaining but I’ve some difficulty following the Mandarin as well as audio is harder to comprehend than visual. An added bonus is with google translation, I can look up those words which I don’t understand to help me polish my Mandarin:)

This book is not purely on romance. There are many social & commercial aspects of life which are rather interesting here. I feel the author is a very knowledgeable all rounder. She even talks abt marketing, brand name, consumerism etc which are your specialties, lol.

I’ll try this novel than, after my test next week. I love stories that are insightful about careers. hehe Especially those that are related to my marketing major.

Haha, no no, it doesn’t really have much to do with marketing but entertainment industry. Just that it touches on marketing as you need to know how to package & market the artists. Also, the male lead is a lawyer with a conscience who is a rare breed I guess, so there are some comments on loyalty to brand names, subsidising lost making national industries etc. The author is a TVB fan like Lidge & me, lol. Give it a try if you like to read abt the operation of the entertainment industry. Otherwise you might feel bored bcos the romance is only maybe abt 50% of the book. But the son Fei Fei is very cute:) Oh, if I can read Chinese, I can probably be a PA or manager for an artist maybe like Wallace so I get to see him nearly everyday. Lol, don’t mind me for day dreaming:P

I don’t mind if it’s realistic enough, like the author knowing the business well enough. It makes the book less plain, that’s why I like ancient novels. It’s because they can include alot more interesting sub plots apart from the love story.

Pretty sure I haven’t read this because I would’ve remember since the main girl is a TVB-addict…lol

Oh, why nobody translated this book as the rating for it is quite good. The main girl is not TVB addict but the author is as she mentioned some TVB dramas:) The main girl works as an artist mgt manager, something like Ms Lok of TVB, you know that hateful woman, lol? Of course she is a lot nicer. You’ll love this book bcos the son is so adorable. He calls the main guy ‘4 eyes’ uncle bcos he wears specs, haha…The main guy is also very sweet. He went to buy some romance novels to read up so he can understand the main girl’s better, lol.

I saw wrongly as after 2 days of marathon I’ve only finished half of the book. Actually this book is quite long & sort of draggy. Most of the time nothing much happened except normal daily life routines. I think the author wants to develop & flesh out the main couple relationship step by step. I was addicted at the beginning to find out abt the main couple r/s as it is kind of twisted, lol. Anyway, the warm intractions b/w the characters make this book a bit more tolerable or else I would have given up. Hey Chancy, you better don’t read this book as it is quite time consuming & a bit flat like those 100 episode korean drama. If this book is shorter by half, I would have translated it for Lidge:(

Can someone give me the title/author in pinyin?

haha peanuts, I read too fast and thought you were talking about the main girl addicted to TVB. Now I realize you were talking about the author…lol. I watch TVB, but don’t really follow TVB politics. I’ve read alot of comments about TVB’s gone downhill partly due to 620’s mismanagement though.

The main guy reads romance novels so he can understand the main girl? That’s cute!!! Sounds like a keeper to me.

Ms Lok = 620, that woman is a dragon, haha….Yes, he can’t understand why the main girl is so cold to him & how to improve his r/s with the main girl so he bought some romance novels to find out, lol.

Hey, I checked for you. This author has written abt 4 novels since 2008 and each of them is rated quite well, sort of above average but slightly lower than SYW & not as many readers. Her name in pin yin is Wei Zai. This is her most popular novel. There should be translations of her novels. If not, you write to the publisher to request:) Oh, the published book has been edited so shorter than what I am reading. I am reading the original internet version. After i finish this book, I’ll check out her other novels as I quite like her.
    http://book.douban.com/search/%E6%9C%AA%E5%86%8D

The main guy is very likeable but he is definitely not perfect as he has done some bad things in his youth. He admires & respects the main girl & will do a lot of things to help her like cooking & cleaning etc. Although they’ve a twisted r/s at the beginning, it is not as bad as HS & JN in Let Me Look. Arrrgh, I want to bring him home as he is handsome, successful in his career, have pleasant personality, mild temper, good cook, great with children, come fr a well to do family & wears specs, lol. He lamented that his son is called Fei Fei bcos he is a little boy whereas his mum still calls him Bei Bei eventhough he is already 30yo, haha….Btw he watches romance drama on tv with his mum, wahaha…

Then luckily you can’t find this book online or else you won’t do your essays:P Maybe they’ve the printed Viet version but nobody put it online bcos the author & this book is not that well known. Good luck with your essays. I am currently reading the part where the main guy is consulting an online agony aunt on his woman problems. Haha, nearly choke on my lunch:P Oh, he & his son are just so adorable:)

I think I’ll pass, I don’t do long books. Especially not modern long books. There’s this ancient novel I want to start, but it’s soooooo long. 500+ chaps in audiobook eps. I feel so unmotivated to start. The girl time traveled and to protect her new little brother in her new life, she has pretend to be a guy to be the crown prince of her country to shield her little brother. She also received the new found ability to read other people’s mind.

What a freaky coincidence! I swear this is a true story that just happened!!!

I’ve been searching Google to see if there’s a Viet translation for this book but nothing came up. There’s a forum I check frequently because there are a lot of good book recommendations, and guess what one of the topic on top was? Yup!!!! A recommendation on this very book. Apparently, it has been published in Viet. So I’ve been searching and searching for something that’s been right in front of me!!

The person started the thread on 9/25 and peanuts posted about the book the day after. I didn’t even realize she was talking about this book at first. The topic title was “If you like Autumn’s Concerto, then you must read this book” so I clicked on the topic because I liked the drama (the one with Ady An). Then I started reading the intro and realized….OMG!!! This is the book peanuts posted LOL~ But if I didn’t search for this book, I wouldn’t have found the 1st half of Let Me so everything works out awesome in the end^^

To make a long story short, Peanuts is Lidge lucky star & she also has good taste in books, lol. Your weekend shall be very busy:P Finished reading book 1 of Let Me Look? Hey, I started this book on 25 Sept but posted it a day later bcos I was too busy reading so that forum user copied me:) Actually, I was the one who posted in that forum, haha….just kidding.

This book is really very very long. 80 plus chapters plus 10 or more epilogue. I don’t know if your Viet translation is the edited version. This author writes quite realistic stories but not as sensational as SYW. Her plots are fairly ordinary & talk a lot about business etc. The romance only abt a little more than 50% of the book. For the impatient or romance lovers, might find her books too bland & mundane but so far I quite like her style & is planning to read another of her book, lol.

Oh, such a realistic potrayal of the entertainment business, the seedy side. All that glitters are not gold. It is not easy to make it to the top in the entertainment business. Btw, I am 100% sure this author is Leslie Cheung’s fan bcos of the titles of her books are his song titles & she sort of wrote a female version of Leslie in the book.

I personally think this book is better than Autumn’s Concerto. Firstly I don’t like Vanness but I adore Xiao Xiao Bing. Also, dislike the amnesia plot in the drama being so typical, done to death:( The inital r/s b/w Ady & Vanness is not twisted enough like the book:P The book also develops the r/s b/w the leads better but some might think too long-winded. In addition, the book has better focus or themes like 2nd chance in life, redemption etc. Lastly, the side characters & detailed a/c of the entertainment business add more meat to the story.

To make the short story shorter: peanuts doesn’t want lidge to sleep 🙂

I think it’s the full version because it’s divided into 2 books. I checked the published date, and it’s just released last month. Still new, which explains why nothing came up in Google and the new recommendation in the forum. I can only find excerpts so far. Got to give it a bit of time before the full version is released online. The story starts off with Fei Fei’s leg in a cast. Poor kid! From what I can tell, he’s cute and chatty. MXW sees MB again for the first time when he’s eating with another woman and …lol….that’s tough.

Lots of business stuff? Not sure I’m thrilled about that. The business stuff in XYW’s Moon book put me to sleep. Ended up skimming through the business stuff, which made it difficult to understand the book lol. Had to rely on spoilers to piece together the story….hehe

  19. Peanuts
    Peanuts September 28, 2012 at 5:33 am |

Of course, bcos peanuts doesn’t sleep:P Otherwise where got time to dig out all the good books for Lidge, lol?

Fei Fei hurt himself playing football so his leg is in a cast. Actually MB is having a blind date/match making meeting with the other woman. Don’t feel bad for them as they’ve never loved each other at the beginning. You can always consult me to give spoiler or story summary for this book as I’ve been very good as I didn’t skip any chapter:P Gee, I’ve become patient. The novel is training me well, lol

Actually the business stuff in here is not boring becos it is the entertainment business. They talk abt movies, TVB dramas, idol drama, singing competition, singers, actors, producers, investors etc. Thus if you are an entertainment freak like me, you’ll understand a lot of what’ve been written. The downside is nothing much happened b/w the leads so it is sustained by conversations & interactions b/w the leads & their son.

    Chancy426 September 28, 2012 at 5:36 am |

More twisting than Autumn Concerto even without the amnesia? Is it spaced up? Because some stories tend to finish up all the heart twisting parts and leave leave a huge draggy chunk towards the end. If its nicely spaced with some business stuff to fill here and there it’ll be a pretty good read this

  21. Peanuts
    Peanuts September 28, 2012 at 5:57 am |

I considered it more twisting than AC but you might think differently. Actually, the author should disclose the past later to milk the story but she didn’t:( Even after the disclosure it is still heart twisting bcos of what happened as well as both the leads’ experience in life & characters.

Oky….will add my 2 cents worth after finishing this book

Was quite endearing….I liked the female lead…..even tho she had a bad past….but honestly, I dun really find any fault in her past, coz it was when she was most down and desperate for love and warmth, that she got mislead by her friend fan mei. If anyone is to be blamed…I blame fan mei…l.because everything was due to fan mei’s jealousy that wanted to cause mo Xiang wan’s bad plight…..but the endearing part abt mo Xiang wan is that she never blamed anyone. She still helped her..but was stabbed in the back in the end.

Even her guan jie, who helped her out the most was also a back stabber…..sighz….honestly, I find this book rather realistic……so many back stabbers……think it happens in all industries….

Mo bei….oh well…..a sweet guy….who after he recognized who mo Xiang wan was, and who mo fei might be…..did so so much to make up for the past 8 years. I give him credit for not taking away mo fei, but to makeup to both mother and son…oh yes…and he did fall in love with her.

Mo fei is such a sweet and matured 8 yr old….cute…

This book does not have the kind of turbulent love story…..just a sweet slowly giving love.

    Hahaha….sorry peanuts…I’m easily distracted……. :p

But yes…I felt more involved in this book…..I really felt for all 3 of them…he missed every little bit of his son’s first 8 years…..to me, it feels like he’s a hands on daddy and someone who loves kids….but sadly he missed out on those cute years….but luckily fei fei is drawn to him….

Xiang wan suffered by herself, but she never took it out on the kid…if anything she brought him up to be a happy, well rounded and self confident kid…but I felt so so sad for her that she was back stabbed and made used of so so many times, but she just forgave and moved on….she even helped them…..

But I dun like her job…it’s just so crappy..not at all interesting…..having to deal with show offy irritating stars and wiping their a@@ every time they make a mess……,sighz….

The love story was good. It’s just I don’t like the showbiz part. She had 2 friends but they are all bad. She was lost and followed bad people, no one was there for her. I think even if her parents separated but if her mother could love and take care of her it would not be like that. After all in this book, family or friends, they were all selfish. But life is fair, because in the end, she have someone like him and a cute child in her life.
