Does she keep the child? Or did she abort it? Or did some accident cause her to lose it?

Xiaoyuer, pls don’t kill me:P I am reading this book & may need to discuss something with Lidge so I am posting another modern book:) It is all Lidge’s fault:P Blame her, not me:P

Haha, Chancy, I am listening to my 3rd XYW’s book in a row:P There is no audio book so I am getting google to read me chapter by chapter. I am already half way thru the book. This is quite an easy book to read as it is pretty juvenile & immature with nothing heavy or angsty. Yet, it is strangely addictive, lol.

Twilight is an easy book too, peanuts. Hehe, you’re not done with this one, and I’m already tempting you onto the next one (evil laugh~).

I believe this is XYW’s first book so everything’s still happy, happy. She just started out at this point and hadn’t mastered the art of torturing her readers and leaving them in a shocked/depressed daze when the ending comes. Yes, Waiting For You In Memories, I’m looking at you!!

Haha, I know you’ll come by & drop some comments. I have been waiting for you:P I am a little more than half way thru this book which is record breaking for me:) Btw, pls answer skyblu question as I also wanna know. Now, I am at the point where the girl has accepted a job in a southern city & CZ is angry with her. I like CZ but at the same time I am scared of him, lol.

Even b4 your post, I’ve already decided to read Twilight next, hehe..But I think I’ll give that 2 weepy longer books a miss. You finished reading ‘mountain’?

She revised/expanded/edited the book with a new title 原来 (Original) which was reprinted in Nov 2011. Oh, I wonder what is the different with the old book bcos I am reading the old one. I found the new book. It has 62 chapters compared to 44 chapters in the old one. How many chapters the one you read got? I hate authors who revise their books or write epilogue donkey yrs after they first published:(

Thank you, sis Lucy:) He is the only child of an affluent family. With such a condition, how can they realistically end up happily together in the end? Xin Yi Wu was too green then to write something so unbelievable.

The new version hasn’t been translated so I have no clue what the difference is. If anyone knows, pls post!!! I hope it includes YJ and CZ having a child, can be biological or adopted.

I hope XYW adds an epilogue to Waiting 4 You where everything’s cleared up so the main girl can return home, the main guy wakes up from the coma, and they marry with the parents’ blessings! Still not a fan of the main guy, but hey, real life is bitter enough, I want my book couples to have a good ending. If XYW won’t write one, I’ll just pretend she did.

I will also try & compare what is the different or read the comments on baidu. I’ll keep you posted, leave it to me to dig out all the dirt, lol. When I went back to re-read the part where YJ loses the baby to answer skyblu’s question, I saw something else interesting. It’s about YJ going on dates with a Dr. Wu who had lost his wife in a sudden accident. His first name is never mentioned, but I’m pretty sure it’s Wu Jiang from Lost Youth/Waiting 4 U. All of Xin Yi Wu’s books take place in city G so I’m sure it’s him.

At the end of one of their dates, he comments that YJ’s smile reminds him of someone. YJ wonders if he means his wife (which is Yuan Yuan), but I thinks he means his first love who committed suicide. I don’t think he can ever forgive himself b/c he blames himself for not being there for her when she needed him.

Thus, I won’t read this book bcos I can’t read a book where I can’t ship the lead. Although I read Han Shu’s character description as someone who indirectly caused JN to go to jail, I didn’t dislike him as much as YQZ.

Purposely translated this for Lidge so any error or omission, pls forgive me:) See, XYW is not such an evil woman who loves to torture the readers:P Preface in the revised book:

Many people think that “To our Eventually Lost Youth” is my first novel but actually it is not. My 1st completed novel is, “You’re Still Here”. At that time, my writing can be said to be ignorant as my mind has no conception of the work & the outline structure. So these concepts are not even well thought out that one day it’ll be published. But I was very passionate & impulsive to write this story. In retrospect, although it is immature and simple, it is the purest of all my works & most delicate like a young person’s first love – no impurities, no purpose, there is only love itself.

After a lapse of five years, I still miss the book Cheng Zheng & Su Yun Jin pairing, this simple yet sweet story, I tried to relive the plot of the original book which is a bit thin to be more specific, the story to be more beautiful, but I do not want to break the original book clean and sincere writing, so here is the revised book called ‘Original’. It is a re-creation, but still the story, of Cheng Zheng & Su Yun Jin, but in a completely new interpretation of their love-hate parting, joys and sorrows and everything will be more plentiful & fresh. Seriously, the process of revision is not any easier than writing a new book, but when finalized, I think it is worth the time and effort. Commercial considerations had nothing to do with the decision to revise the book. It is just an author’s small satisfaction. It is like an extremely wonderful dream being relive again and remembering the most beautiful and moving moments inside the book.

In fact, everyone has probably been a Cheng Zheng, or Su Yun Jin in their life. During young, falling in love with a person then tentatively chase the love, got together, start to bicker, resent, alienate & separate … It is not that we don’t love but we are too young, and often too eager to love but do not know how to love. Until we finally mature and understand what is love, the person that you love might “have disappeared into the sea”. Perhaps not everyone is so lucky, such as Cheng Zheng & Su Yun Jin. After going around in circles, both are still waiting for each other in the original spot. Precisely because the reality is not satisfactory, if a good story can give people comfort to believe that there is such love, it will make us happier, right? Maybe after reading this book, you’ll muster up enough courage to love like them.

Finally, I hope all the broken up lovers can rediscover their missing half.

The revised book begins with the wedding of the girl Meng who also likes CZ in high school to the guy who sat next to YJ, I think. YJ went & met CZ’s gf who is pregnant but didn’t have much intereaction with CZ. Then she went for a drink with a girl who works with her. The wife of her boss came & splashed the glass of water on her bcos she thinks YJ is having an affair with him which is not true. After she left, YJ shared her love story with the girl. XYW loves to use flashbacks so she changed the sequence in this story to enable flashbacks. Probably bcos I read the original 1st so I don’t like the change.

I skipped most of the encounters during high school as she expanded a fair bit on them like how he helped her with her study etc. After graduating fr high school, CZ & YJ met again at the bbq gathering. In the revised book, b4 entering uni, CZ drove to her home to give her some money & they quarrel over her refusal to accept it. The revised book is very long winded & verbose. Impatient peanuts feels like continuing the old book. I feel the revised book boring, lost the fun & childish feel.

  19. lidge
    lidge September 17, 2012 at 3:20 pm |

WHAT?!?! CZ’s gf is pregnant? nooooo~~ I hope it’s not his baby and he’s just using her to make YJ jealous. Wrong of him to do so, but YJ is proud and stubborn. She won’t get back with CZ if he has a baby with another woman.

I’m glad XYW changes it to YJ not having an affair with her boss. In the 1st book, YJ did have an affair b/c she had just lost the baby and lonely and needed emotional support. I didn’t like this revelation b/c it demeans YJ’s character. I don’t like ppl who are the “3rd person” in other ppl’s relationships.

If the high schools yrs are expanded, I hope there’s some new and funny stuff btw CZ & YJ.

    Thanks for the update, peanuts!♥

I skipped to the last chapter of the new book bcos I lost patient with the long chapters:( She still have difficulty having children. There is a chance but a slim one but CZ said he doesn’t mind blah blah blah:P I don’t think that is CZ’s baby so I need to read chapters 15 to 19 to find out where the baby comes from.

She told the co-worker there isn’t anything b/w her & the boss bcos of his unconfirmed status. I am not sure if she is telling the truth. EEee, the old book said she had an affair with the boss. Btw I don’t really like YJ. I find her too stubborn & prideful. CZ is childish & temperamental but I still prefer him. Realistically with such characteristics, they shouldn’t be together.

Yah, she added some new & funny stuff but too descriptive till I feel bored. It is like reading an ultra long essay. It lost the high school simple & light feel. You are not missing anything by not reading the new book. THe only good thing is the new book flow smoother. With the old book, I feel some scenes are disjoint & skipped, no continuity.

I feel sorry for Yu Hua. I don’t really get her story. She has been waiting for CJJ’s hubby Zheng something for yrs? What did she see in him? I don’t like him. He is such a flirt. The side charactere in Youth, that Yuan Yuan is another pitiful character. Why she wanna take the train to meet her douchebag ex-bf & got killed? Most of the supporting characters in XYW’s books have sad love lifes & endings.

I was very keen on this book last nite & this morning. But after I read the revision, I feel tired, lol. Also, after they graduated fr high school, all the fun is gone. She should stick to writing on high school & uni life as I find post studying life depressing:(

YJ and CZ are complete opposites, but this story is about opposites attracting each other…lol. The time gap matures them and mellow them out somewhat though…haha.

In the 1st book, after CZ & YJ get back together, CZ’s mom has a talk with YJ. YJ is afraid that his mom will oppose them b/c she can’t have children, but his mom just says if CZ’s happy with her, then so be it. She’s seen how badly he took it when he broke up with YJ so she just wants her son to be happy.

Yu Hua is one of XYW’s numerous pitiful supporting charaters. At least Yuan Yuan found peace with her husband for a while. Yu Hua’s been in love with CZ’s best friend since high school and it never ends, but he doesn’t like her b/c he’s shallow & thinks she’s not pretty enough. When he was in a serious car accident, she took care of him as a doctor but also as a good friend. There’s a funny part where she bathed him and he was embarrassed so she just coolly said “You haven’t got anything I haven’t seen before” …lol. In the end, he always chooses JJ.

It’s frustrating when we see ppl in love with the wrong ppl for them, but in my opinion, it’s difficult to decipher matters of the heart. I mean, YJ is a prickly porcupine, but CZ is nuts about her…lol. What I love about XYW’s books is that it’s easy to see ourselves or ppl we know in real life in her characters. Sometimes we fall for unsuitable ppl and get hurt. Our brain tells us one thing, but our heart tells us another and we makes the wrong decisions b/c we don’t have the ability to predict what will happen in the future.

You always write what I want to say very well like you can read my mind:) I’ve been reading the old & new version concurrently here & there so I may get the 2 versions mixed up. In the new version Yu Hua went to Dublin to study which means she is putting JJ’s hubby behind her. I can understand how she feels as my fren is just like her. The difference is that he is the doctor, lol.

If for me, I’ll severe all ties with him & can never be friend. If I know he is having a hard time, I’ll rejoice in my heart:P Haha, my fren said I am selfish just like YJ who said she doesn’t want CZ to find happiness. For me, it is hard to comprehend there is such ppl like Yu Hua & Xiao Tung (CZ’s gf) in the real world who’ll will do so much for love & can let go the person they love. I don’t believe they don’t wanna fight for love or hope with their support & sacrifice the guy can return their love.

Btw, I don’t like the parts where they live together & always quarrel over petty things. But I am enjoying the reunion part bcos it is littered with humour & a bit of angst. I’ll translate an extra scene in the new book which I find funny for you. Hopefully my translation also turn out to be funny. My Mandarin is not good but I don’t think I suck too badly:P Later, when I compare the school chapters, I’ll translate any cute scenes for you.

CZ is so sweet & cute but I doubt such person exist in this world:( I really pity him for doing all the chasing for the past 11 yrs. I don’t think YJ deserves him. But as XYW said love is unfair which is so true. I like the part where he cooked for her but said it is takeaway food, he remembered she is allergic to prawn & he mistook his mum as YJ & wanna bite her, lol. Although the plot for this book is rather simple but CZ makes all the difference. I like his childishness & hot temper:P I also like his sweet dialogues, sometimes littered with harmless sarcasm & wit:) Hey, on baidu there is a poll on who do you like best, Cheng Zheng, Han Shu or Lin Jing?

-Lost Youth: LJ is too calculating & a workaholic. Chen Xiao Zheng is too ambitious.
-You’re Still Here: CZ’s obsessive love is too much sometimes. He’s also childish & hot-tempered & unreasonable.
-山月不知心底事: Ye Qian Ze is too weak. Ye Yun is cute but too strong? His willingness to kill ppl for the girl he loves scares me.
-Waiting 4 U in Memories: Yao Qi Yun’s love is not strong enough to overcome his mistrust. Def should not stay with someone like this b/c a relationship can’t survive w/o trust.
-Let Me Look @ You: can’t decide on Han Shu/Wu Yue due to technical failure….lol. Still stuck @ 1/4 of the book and waiting for some unknown kind soul to update. Have no idea what happened in the past~~ (Pls, pls no spoilers. This is one of the few times I want to be surprised XD)
-Mirage: no on Chi Cheng; I don’t like ppl who are the “3rd person” in other ppl’s relationships.

Sorry if I wasn’t clear. I don’t mind calculating if LJ can passionately love a girl, but the problem is LJ’s calculating nature is too cold for my comfort. I don’t feel he can truly love a woman. Even with Wei Wei, I feel LJ chose her b/c he likes her well enough out of all the women he knows, and she fits his requirements of a proper wife. This is why I think there’s a lot of support for Chen Xiao Zheng. Actually, I dislike both guys in Lost Youth.

I don’t like all of XYW’s plots, but I’m a fan of her writing style. It’s a good mix of humor and angst. Her writing structure flows well for me so I like that.

All of XYW’s books are related to each other, which can drive you up the wall b/c while reading, you see a familiar name and so you try your darnest to remember which other books you’ve see that name….lol. In the epilogue of Let Me, there’s a part about JN going to the draperies shop to apply for a job. The sound of uncle connotes old & creepy, haha…With such a designation, I don’t feel giddy enough to want to know him better:P I will not want anyone to call me aunt or auntie no matter how much older or younger I am compared to that person, lol.

They met waiting for the elevator & he commented on what he saw which is in the original book. It is so funny that she doesn’t believe he lives in the same building as her:) Lidge, hope you can understand my translation & find it funny:)

We’ve been so engrossed in talking and catching up, we did not press the elevator button.” Which floor do you live? “Cheng Zheng asked, smiling. Su Yun Jin has long wanted to end this ridiculous encounter. Feeling the hypocrisy of the words they’ve just exchanged, she just doesn’t know how to continue to pretend and to maintain this ridiculous facade. But she is unwilling to let Cheng Zheng know which floor she lives. This damn elevator, it has been so long yet no other person in the building press to make it move.

“You press first.” She hopes, if he lives on the lower floor, she can wait and let him get out first. Cheng Zheng readily pushes the18th floor button, which is the top floor of this building. Su Yun Jin swears all the bad words she knows in her heart & presses the 5th floor button. Soon, the elevator stops on the 5th floor. She tries to quickly bypass him and get out with a “goodbye”.

In fact, she lives on the 6th floor, but the climb of one flight of stairs is worth it. She didn’t expect Cheng Zheng will exclaim a surprised expression, “You ‘also’ live on the 5th floor?” Su Yun Jin angrily said: “You do not live on the 18th floor?”
“Who says I live on the 18th floor? I see that you do not speak, so I pressed the top floor button as one cannot always stay in the elevator.”
“Aiya, I just notice I pressed the wrong floor. Since you live on this floor, you go first … Good night.” Su Yun Jin went back into the elevator.

Cheng Zheng didn’t move a foot in the elevator. He seems to find all these very amusing, “I said, ‘also’ because I ‘also’ live on the 5th floor in my previous apartment.”
Su Yun Jin pouts and keeps quiet. This feels like the cat & mouse game they used to play in high school but she doesn’t want to play with him anymore. She presses the 6th floor & walks straight out when the elevator door opens.
“So you live on the 6th floor ar?” Cheng Zheng flashes a wide smile/grin on his face. “In fact, I live on the 9th floor. Come & visit me when you’ve time”

When the elevator door was closing, Su Yun Jin suddenly feels fatigue. If in the future she has to endure another episode like this is too scary, so might be better to say everything in the open as early as possible.
Cheng Zheng! “She suddenly shouted loudly.
The elevator door slowly opens again. Cheng Zheng looking surprised says, “Why should we make life difficult for the elevator?”
“Do you think this is fun?”
He finally put away the smile.
“What do you want? Tell me straight. Do not play. Don’t you think what happened just now is rather hilarious?” Su Yun Jin went on to say. “You want me to give you enjoyment?” Many years ago, they had a similar conversation, that first time he kissed her. Su Yun Jin tries not to remember that & asks: “What do you want?”

“You may have misunderstood. The only reason I moved here is my girlfriend likes the quietness here which is good for the unborn baby. You know, in this respect, I do not care. I always accommodate others. Just like you used to like that small abalone apartment & I lived in that super small place for two years. Believe it or not, this is the truth. Yun Jin, we do not have to be friend, but things in the past, I’ve forgotten most of them so you don’t need to treat me so cautiously.”
“Hopefully, as you said, I wish we can be good & friendly neighbor.” She takes a step back. The elevator starts to rise but Su Yun Jin’s heart starts to fall.

School years recap – Beside poking SYJ with pencil from behind & put his legs under her chair to shake it, he also sprinkle his sweat wet hair on SYJ’s water making her go thirsty. Then he offered her his water but she said I am not gonna drink your saliva. Then he said, fine then let you die of thirst:P

He also help her with maths as Song Ming the guy she asked to tutor her is not good enough. He gave her the answer sheet & quickly left knowing she might not accept it. When he came back, she tried to speak to him. He though she wanna give him back the answer paper but actually she wanted to ask him what he has written. He said she is stupid & has low IQ & she replied he has illegible handwriting:P She is so poor at Science & Maths, should have chosen Arts stream. Hehe, I am from Arts stream:P

The revised book also has extra bits on how nice CZ is in trying to help SYJ who he knows is poor. He said the bread is bad in order to let SYJ eat but she only took a bite to verify & gave him back. He also pretended he found $50 under SYJ’s chair but she gave the money to the teacher bcos she knows she doesn’t have that much money to drop. He left some food coupons inside her book but she gave them back to him. He got angry at her stubborness & threw them into the flower pots. This girl is too much, my sweet CZ:P

SYJ did retaliate by complaining to the teacher abt CZ’s legs under her chair. CZ acted innocent & blamed the spacing of the table as being too narrow & his legs too long. Once SYJ uses the leg of her chair to crush CZ’s foot under her chair:P But he didn’t complain or retaliate. Oh, such a forgiving boy:P She left a scar on his foot:(

oooohhhh, looks like lots of new stuff in the school yrs.
In the old version, CZ shakes YJ’s chair with his leg b/c he wants her attention….haha…so cute. Then him leaving the answer sheet and her complaining about his bad handwriting is how they start talking to each other….haha.

The parts about the bread, $50, and food coupons are new. Cute of CZ to try to help YJ out, but she’s so proud she won’t accept any help that she perceives as charity. Thank you, peanuts!! thank you!!

Yeh, Skyblu gonna read the revised book:) There are more too come so keep an eye out:) I didn’t translate the school recaps bcos the interactions are not as funny as the elevator scene which is not in the old book right? I can’t really remember what is in the old book for the school days. I’ll summarise the good bits & translate the best parts:P BTW XYW said her fav female character in her books is JN fr Let Me Look. Also, I’ve revised my description of the book. Like XYW, i feel the original one is too unsophisticated & simple:P

T_T Can someone please do audiobook for this! I wanna read it, but I don’t wanna read it. Ur both tempting me too badly, I wonder how long I’ll hold out until I give into temptation.

Is CZ like realllyy reallly creepy obsessive or cute infatuation type of obsessive? He doesn’t do something as bad as what Han Shu did to Jue Nian right?

  37. lidge
    lidge September 20, 2012 at 10:49 pm |

In the old version, I’m leaning more towards creepy obsessive. She repeatedly pushes him away, but he’s like a leech that refuses to let her go. All through high school, through college, and then after they break up and he disappears for a few yrs and she thinks he’s gone for good….bam! he’s back again.

But since he’s hot, smart, and rich, he can stalk me anytime!!^^

Hey Lidge, don’t give Chancy the wrong impression:P I feel it is cute infatuation. Since Lidge is still early days in reading Let me Look at You, she doesn’t know what HS did. Btw, don’t spoil her or else she’ll cry, lol. He is determined & persistence, not creepy:P Everything he did is rather sweet & bcos he loves her very much. Don’t worry, inspite of his childishness & temper, he is likeable from beginning to end, the near perfect Prince Charming:P Actually it is the girl that I don’t really like compared to JN. I like CZ the best then followed by HS then LJ based on the 3 books I’ve read.

I can’t read Chinese yet I took the trouble to copy & paste to let google read to me. 2 versions somemore !!! Thinking abt it, I think I am as crazy & obssessive as CZ, lol. Thus, it is quite easy for you to download the ebook & read it. This shall improve your Chinese:) Pls suggest to A’Shou to read this book with C gege:) C gege will be perfect as CZ, so funny & silly, lol.

Hey, I read a summary of all the relationships b/w the characters in most of XYW’s book. Wah, so complicated. If I’ve time I’ll summarise for you. Also, I am quite confused abt Lulu, the girl who works with SYJ. Some readers think she is very pitiful. I skipped around so didn’t pay any attention to her story. Whereas other readers like Mo Yu Hua’s realistic part the best. They think the main story is nothing special, just a typical love story. SJY is not real as she is so blessed & lucky to have CZ yet didn’t treasure him the 1st time round but got a 2nd chance.

I didn’t read Memories but after reading the spoilers Lidge wrote, I feel YQY is not that likeable & Situ Jue is also very head strong. My Bu GeGe’s Zhuo Hao voice is pretty alright for CZ too. I don’t know if you read that far yet, but he changed Zhuo Hao and Qing Ke’s voices a notch along the way, I thought it was strange, but than it made sense because they grew up and when boys grow up their voices change more deeper. haha So amusing.

I’m so lazy relying on audiobooks. Have you finished the book? If u think it’s really good, I’m pretty tempted to buy the book instead, really hate reading online. The online bookstore in China that my dad bought from was pretty reliable, they sent him the wrong book, and we told them that and they immediately mailed the right book to him without asking to ship back the wrong book. If I have text, I’m more likely to figure out what the words mean without using too much translation tools. My library’s foreign language section is soooo limited, they don’t even many popular titles, just a whole bunch of random books.

You better read a chapter of the online version to get a feel of the story as we’ve different taste:) I like the high school years in this book as I was a naughty girl also, lol. My ranking

#1) Let Me Look At You: Only read the first half but have read enough books to know a good book when I see one.
#2) Waiting 4 You: XYW’s saddest book. Should come with a warning just b/c of the ending. I love the plot & heroine though.
#3) Twilight: A bit like Gu Man’s He Yi Sheng Zhao Mo but with lots of family drama & angst
#4) You’re Still Here (old version): XYW’s first book so it’s her “happiest” book. Plot is a bit thin. [May move up in ranking depending on how good the new version is]
#5) The Moon Doesn’t Understand My Heart: Lots of boring business talk. The Ye family is as dysfunctional as a family could get.
#6) Lost Youth: XYW’s most famous book. Personally dislike both main guys so it’s hard to like this.
    7) Mirage: No plot! All the characters are annoying!! Worst is the main guy!!!!

XYW’s newest book will be released next month in China. According to rumors spread by the author herself, it’s her angstiest book! YAY~

Huh, really her most angsty one? Wah, then I’ve a bad feeling that the new book will end up in tears. No way, am I touching that book if the ending is bad. I’ll just live in memory of the happy ending books she wrote:P You always say you won’t touch sad ending books but you always end up reading them, lol. Whereas I am true to my words:P

You are only one fourth into Let Me Look & you’re ranking it 1st. Hmmmm a bit unfair to the other books:P Oh, Waiting for you is that good to warrant 2nd placing. The plot isn’t that great with the spoilers you wrote. Somemore that guy is not likeable. Skyblu, is this book that good? I need some verification b4 I decide on my future course of action:P

Twilight & Mirage are question mark but the comments I read seem to say that they are not well liked. I will test them out & comment on them later. I believe you when you wrote that moon book is looney so I won’t touch it. I think you’ll like Original better as it has been improved with more humour:P

I think you didn’t read the middle bit so you are not that fond of Lost Youth. I find that book not as bad as you make it sound:P Yes, the male leads are selfish but that is reality. Anyway Lin Jing gege has sort of redeemed himself in my eyes when he ends up with ZW. Ha, I know why you rank this book so low: Bcos ZW bashes US for being an evil capitalist country, lol.

    Peanuts’ Ranking with some bias:P

    1) Let me Look at You – Strong & unique female lead, likeable imperfect male lead & profound, melancholy & interesting plot.
2)So You are Still Here/Original – A simple & sweet fairytale story on love with some happy humour. Bcos I like the male lead & the school antics too much, I think I give this book more credit than it deserves so I am bias:P
    3) To Our Eventually Lost Youth – Like the flawed characters & realistic slice of life storyline

Didn’t read all the other books but know the storylines pretty well. So to be fair, I won’t rank them.

Memories is a good book, but it depends on whether or not you can stand trainwreck relationships. The type where no matter how much two people love each other, their personalities make it impossible for them to last forever. I still haven’t filled in the blanks and just started on Original, but it was a good book. I think I would feel worse for Yao Qi Yun if I actually started reading into their relationship, which is very bad for my mental health, since I feel bad enough now. So now the slowness and the knowledge of the future is preventing me from continuing on.

Another extra during school yrs is a parents & students meeting. CZ’s mum saw her throwing some chalks at SYZ. She twisted his ear & scolded her usless son for bullying a girl:) She said wait till I tell your dad to give you a good beating & apologised to SYZ. CZ introduced himself to SYZ’s parents & praised her. My CZ is so naughty & thick skin:P

I forgot if the old book has CZ missed scoring a goal due to leg cramp while trying to impress SYJ during a football match. While others were trying to attend to his cramp, SYJ was abt to walk away. He shouted at her to stop but she didn’t so he threw a ball at her.

After CZ kissed SYZ after the sanitary pad scene, her dad passed away. When she returned to school she swapped seat with MYH. CZ is miffed abt it so he went outside the girls dormitory to try to talk to her but she refused to come out. So, he kept on shouting her name till she got scared that the teachers will hear so she reluctantly went out. He confessed his liking for her again. In order to keep him from futher misbehaviour, she told him she’ll consider abt it after the exam.

I’ve finished the revised book. The ending is the same as the old book, just the sequence of events have been rearranged a bit & expanded. In the old book, Wujiang left after sending SYJ home. But in the revised book he returned to take up SYJ’s invitation & she cooked him instant noodle. Then CZ came & complained WJ ate his instant noodle:P At the end WJ left & SYJ is annoyed with CZ & told him abt their baby.

XYW tried to make the new book happier by giving CZ’s gf a husband. In the old book, I pity her the most as she is so selfless & supported CZ when he was sad but he went back to SYJ. She knows CZ will always have SYJ in her heart so she broke up with him after half a yr of dating. Then she married CZ’s fren so the baby is not CZ. He rented an apt & lives next to her when he found out SYJ lives in the same bldg. They didn’t even have an intimate r/s. So, CZ & SYJ stayed pure & true to each other in their 4 yrs apart. I find it so unrealistic.

Haha….the parents /students meeting & switching seat are new, not in the old version. Very funny and cute! In the old version, it’s just SYJ going to watch CZ playing ball. I think he did score a nice goal. The leg cramp & him throwing a ball at her is expanded. I’m glad WJ has a bit more role in the new version. I can do a recap for Twilight like I did with Waiting 4 You if you want, peanuts. Twilight is old and not as well-known as the majorly angsty ones like Waiting 4 U, The Moon & Let Me so I guess it’s kind of forgotten.

I forced myself sit through the first 7 or 8 eps of WI but then skipped right through the ending. Bosco & Linda barely had any chemisty.

I’ve just started on King Maker b/c Viet dubs are released about a month or 2 after the series finished airing in HK. Is Kent Cheng the villian? That’s what wikipedia says, but he’s OK so far. I thought he betrayed his shifu (Wayne’s dad), but then it turned out that Wayne’s father asked him to turn him in.

Thank you but no need as I can find Twilight book online. But just cannot get a nice cover picture to post this book up:( Maybe I can use the English Twilight book cover, lol. I think I wanna go back to read Youth & not start on Twilight yet as I got tired of copy & paste:) I am doubtful abt the quality of this book bcos You are still here is her 1st book yet it is popular enough to warrant a revision.

The beginning of WI is ok when they kept on eyeing each other, the hidden love kind, haha..Then the story lost steam & focus on the business & her dad & uncle, yawn yawn.

Kent will become a villain. The story spans for many yrs so he is changing. I understand why you like this drama as it is quite realistic, not the usual power struggle drama. In the end there is no clear winner as the sacrifice is just too big & the cause sort of lost its purpose. I hope nothing is lost in translation as the speeches they gave are rather spot on & ironic. Yah, no eye candy in the drama but it is a quite good drama that goes in circle a bit. At least the ending is well done & flow, not like those stupid endings.

Maybe you didn’t upload properly, Save the pic & upload again. If fail, you better check with Chancy.

Many readers in China prefer the old version as it is more natural & full of feelings of love & hate eventhough the writing is flawed. Also, CZ is more awkward & less clear minded which is how a high school kid should behave. The old book has a touch of sadness which reminds us of the eagerness of youth. The new version lacks feeling & is typical of many current books making it feel like a common book. SYJ didn’t have a baby to give the book a much needed closure. Although the revised version is longer, their love feels more wooden & tiring.

So Lidge, you can be assured you’ve missed nothing. Many a time, humans are like that. They usually prefer the original version they saw unless it is really bad, including me. Yes, the inital version is raw & flawed but it is pure & heart felt. Amazon China is selling the revised version & giving the old version free. Too bad, I need google or else I’ll buy it. Hey, Chancy, buy 1 get 1 free:) Thus, a word of advice to all authors – if something isn’t broken don’t fix it.

Just finished. I think I like the older version better too. After all having a girlfriend and then realizing you can’t forget your ex is a much better plan than using your pregnant ex-girlfriend who is married to one of your friends to make another ex-girlfriend jealous.

I dislike how so little of XYW’s book take place in the present. It would feel more natural if she started from the beginning and moved to present, since flashbacks are usually short. The present always feel more intense because the relationships are already established instead of in the past when the relationships are still blossoming. The feel is very different.

That’s the thing that prevents me from liking her novels too. I get so irritated and impatient whenever a flashback pops up, like inside Let Me Look At You, there was a huge flashback that took over about half of the book. The feel is like when you watched an ep in the middle of the story and than you feel like you like the story so you go back to ep 1 to watch again and than you keep feeling like fasting forward. I don’t like that feel. I think I’d read the old version for this book than. I like when stories take place in chronological orders like Lost Youth instead of going back and forth like Let Me Look At You.

Chancy:This is definitely shorter than Let Me Look which is divided into 2 books. I finished the old version fairly quickly. Actually you don’t need to buy. Just copy & past & get google to read. Should take you few hrs only at most. I’ve included the Ebook link. Or you can printout the ebook. The flashback in Let me Look is more appropriate than this book. At least it is more suspenseful.

Skyblu:I did recommend you to read the inital version:) I think XYW should have sticked to the old version format as I feel more for the characters from young to middle age, than using flashbacks. Pls no more flashbacks bcos I am sick & tired of this plot device. She can expand a bit on the school antics & include a few extra funny scene like the elevator one. Otherwise she should leave the book substantially intact. Don’t overhaul it till it loses its pureness & simplicity. It is like restoring a heritage home to become a modern one.Read Lost Youth with me as it flows fr young to middle age:) No wonder it is considered her best book. Hey, her new book better don’t have flashback anymore or a reduced one.

Why I can’t reply to a post anymore?

I just want to say a big thank you to Peanuts and Yingniang for bringing this book to people like me who can’t read C-novels.

I really wished Mo Yu Hua had a happy ending 🙁 But then this book has a realistic perspective. It makes you realise love doesn’t automatically solve everything or make everything right.

Thank you Peanuts and Yingniang once again^^

The one time I branch away from ancient novels, I am met with such a heart-wrenching perspective on modern love. At times, I felt like the love between the couple was not equal but I think in retrospect, it’s just that people view and express love differently.

Anyhow a good read, I couldn’t put it down despite it not being all fluff. 😀
