Bah, Yu Zheng beats me to it:( I wanted to read and post a Miao Juan’s book, namely The Translator but I’ve forgotten about it. No worries, my good friend is going to read it and will post the synopsis, you know who you are, lol. I read that Miao Juan is a rather popular and guarantee good author but I’ve yet to read any of her book bcos they sound kind of serious and tragic.
This book is purely fictional, so no need to google for the little prince as no such person exist in history. Actually this book is the first book in a trilogy and is pretty recent. The ending is kind of open-ended as the author is currently working on book 2.
I am surprise YZ has such good taste to choose such a highly rated book for adaptation and not plagarise:P I read he bought the copyright more than half a yr ago but only decided on the leads due to the popularity of CX & ZLY pairing in Legend of Lu Zhen. Thus, he has changed the name to Legend of the Moon (it is the name of the female lead – Ming Yue). He wanna do a ‘Legend’ trilogy. I heard the 3rd book will be the adaptation of Man Man Qing Luo which I presume will be called Legend of Qing Luo?
I hope he’ll spend some time, money and effort into adapting it into a drama & not butcher the book. I kind of know the gist of the story and read a few chapters and some reviews on it. I personally feel this is a rather good book, better than Lu Zhen & Qing Luo if done well as there are many issues which can be explored further. FYI, the female lead of this book is not very likeable compared with Lu Zhen but the male lead is more interesting than Gao Zhan. Also, the 2nd male lead in this book is a stronger competitor. However, I am not sure YZ will follow the book faithfully. Later, I’ll write a short review/1st impression as to why I like this book and what YZ might do or might not do.
Oh, oh, ouch, it is really Qing dynasty, arrrrgh I prefer Chen Xiao with lots of hair, lol. Why YMM loves Qing dynasty? Probably can save money & recycle the costumes. Luckily it’ll span to the ‘warlords’/ republican (ming guo) era so CX may be in uniform like Wallace Chung in TLTSILY. Squeeeek, I like man in uniform, haha…He is the last prince (playboy) of the Qing dynasty so don’t mix him up with the last emperor. Zhao Li Ying will be his concubine. They’ll have a love/hate relationship with lots of ups and downs just like the turbulent era they live in. Oh, my poor heart, can you take so much angst?
Thanks, Peanuts, for the summary! I look forward to reading your review! ^^
Sounds like an interesting book, except this is really not one of my favorite time periods in Chinese history. I also don’t like that YZ is grouping this together with Legend of Lu Zhen as part of a trilogy. I get why the ‘legend’ part works for LZ since she’s based on a historical person, but there doesn’t seem to be anything ‘legendary’ about Ming Yue here…
You are welcome. I doubt YZ will follow the book closely. According to the book the prince is more of a legend than Ming Yue. So far, I like him more than Ming Yue. Actually I don’t like her at all. I hope YZ will flesh her out better. The part I didn’t tell you is that the supporting male lead is a Japanese. Maybe YZ will try to sell us a nationalist Ming Yue who’ll sacrifice love? or die or do anything for the love of the motherland, those sort of stuff to make her more of a legend. I’ve not finished the book & can only finish the book when I am on holiday in 2 weeks time so come back later, haha….
Btw, I also dun like ming guo era stuff. Never read any book on it & only saw TLTSILY bcos of Wallace Chung, haha..I am allergic to those CCTV ming guo era patriotic drama, yawn yawn:( But I’ll watch this one bcos of the author & the OTP:)
Oh no, I stayed up till 2am to read this book when I should be doing something more impt:( It is just too irresistible with me picturing CX as the little prince. Arrrrrgh, I hope YMM won’t spoilt my image as I’ve high hope on the drama. His name is Ai Xin Jue Luo Xian Chang.
Has anyone read this yet? I might read/listen to it now…..
Peanuts – I have fallen into the trap of listening to books using a text-to-speech app. Now its really so many books, so little time.
I read a bit here and there. You can read and write a review on it, lol. Welcome to the google translate reading club, haha….
I wonder : happy or bad ending ?
Why is there angst ?
