This is Si Lu Min Yin’s upcoming audiobook that she’s doing with Nei Ou (from the Tang Qi modern novel) and Xiao Bian C.
It seems to be a heavy one. I have a feel that the main guy is not her husband (C-gege), but will be ex-bf who comes for revenge. I pestered her for hints as to if C-gege will be male lead, but she just said one is old love and one is new love. T_T that’s not answering at all. =P Either way, I like the setted up enviroment of the novel. Can already feel that the characters will get all torn and ripped apart under the pen.

Just finished this. Can’t say I enjoyed it. The author’s characterization and descriptions are still good. The problem is the plot is too thin so the story moves very slowly since there’s not much to go on. It’s frustrating in that it takes 3/4 of the story for Chi Cheng’s “motive” to be exposed, and when it is, it’s kind of flimsy even. After feeling disappointed at the “motive,” I skimmed quickly to get to the ending to get some closure.
Happy ending for the main couple so yay if one cares enough? XX’s tolerant of her dramatic, irresponsible mother and XX’s love-hate relationship with her stepsister add some much needed humor to an otherwise bland story with a very weak plot.
Wow, sis Lucy, you finished this faster than I finish Eventually Lost Youth. I suspect there are 48 hrs a day in your life, haha…..Did you read my rants & raves on Lost Youth? I like that book very much so I am rather disappointed to read your feedback on this book. I am expecting a lot fr the author as well as the audiobook. It is out, it is out, 10 episodes are out. I am listening to it now, so happy:) Needless to say, the quality is top notch. Bcos I’ve been trying a lot of horrible modern audio books today & has been feeling a bit down. Oh, C gege is really the husband. I’m actually a little past the audiobook, because I don’t like leaving books unfinished unless their bad. So far, I don’t know their backstory yet, because Xun Xun doesn’t know Chi Cheng, even though, he obviously knows her because of his scheming. I don’t think it’s a love at first sight, so their has to be some background. But I get why you would dislike it, Ping Ning and Xun Xun’s relationship is really boring. At first, I felt such pity for her because her marriage feels like a complete sham. It really does agree with her statement, “I couldn’t find a reason to not marry him.” That is a terrible reason to marry someone.
It says chi cheng came back with love and hate, so i thought they use to date.
I don’t think so bcos when there were introduced Xun Xun seem not to know him. Unless she is pretending or she lost her memory.
Si Lu Min Yin says this book will be about 60 chaps and she’ll finish it by end of month if nothing goes wrong. I shall start reading when it’s finish. Those who’ve read or reading right now, is this novel a forward novel or forward and rewind type plot?

Finally finished. I would say that this book is very character driven. It is pretty realistic with a variety of characters, but I think that beyond Zeng Yu, Xun Xun, and Chi Cheng, no one is really developed. The other characters show up too little to make much of an impact.
I personally don’t understand Chi Cheng’s obsession, or at the very least why he still loves her. He liked the idea of having her, because he couldn’t in the past, but once he knows her, the feeling should have dampened. I could totally understand why he is attempting to wreck her life though, I probably would.
The ending seems a bit rushed, but I suppose that after the secret’s out, there isn’t much to drive the story anymore. I prefer a rushed ending over a dragged one on most days, though.

I completely understand your love of C-gege. He has a wonderful voice and I love him too, but I’m more than happy to get in line. Long books are so hard to stay interested in, but when I like the characters, then it’s easy. I’m sorry to say, A-Heng and Chi You just don’t do that for me in Once Promised, so I’m really hesitating about starting the second book, so I’m looking for something different to fill up the space in between. Nothing modern seems to click, so maybe a historical? I have no idea…..
Hey Atsu, just put Once Promised on hiatus & read Lost Youth or Floating Dream with me depending on your preference for modern or ancient novel. Floating Dream is like 3L3W, a bit angsty but also rather funny. I am on chapter 15 & can’t stop smiling thinking abt the book, lol. Got C gege & A’Shou so you must listen to the audio book. Wei Wei Yi Xiao Hen Qing Cheng is a good hybrid. I love that book. Get the 12 episode version. These 3 books are short enough to hold your interest. I assure you’ll click with either one or all of them, lol.

Yupyup, I did get to the fire engine part and it was embarrassing! I felt like I wanted to dig a hole for XunXun. Zeng Yu is Xun Xun’s step-sister, but I think she’s the same girl that Chen Xiao Zheng used to like in Lost Youth? I kind of don’t know what to expect plot-wise and why Chi Cheng is so brazen with XunXun, but I guess that’s the whole point of reading!

There’s was one part in around Episode 12 I think, where XX runs into a dark-skinned man at the hospital which she told Zeng Yu about as the man she once loved in college. Would that man be CXZ? You know, after stepping away from Lost Youth a bit, I’ve grown quite fond of him. At least, more than CC at this point.
Im totally enjoying Chi Cheng’s tactics. So funny. Totally lol at the underwear part especially when her husband was asking what they were talking about. A nude train. Haha
i didn’t expect Chi Cheng to be younger than her. Now that’s more interesting now. I really like Xun Xun. Hopefully they Will offer some angst on the guys part and not just let the girl suffer alone. That’s unfair.

Me on 33 right now. I find it very addictive. The pace is alright so far, but what she did to him better be something of big enough deal and make sense. I felt so much heart pang for Chi Cheng when Xun Xun said she detest him. He deserved it though for messing up her date. ^_^

I have to say, this story is pretty of my appetite. Find CC very interesting as a male lead and it’s very hard not to fall into his trap but as reader and knowing he is up to no good always try to keep that 1% from falling in love with him like XX. I think even after finding out about what happened between them (i am just reached that part) I realize he’s really harmless, well unless he has more in store for XX. Please no, I do pity him as is. She used him like toilet paper pretty much and forgot all about him. *sigh*
& agree, that dude at her work really killed all the positive feeling I had bubbling up for him. What other dude at her work? I actually like her husband, but he’s not as important role in the story as I expected so I don’t really care. XYW always puts symbolic little stories/situations in the story. I really love the maze scene & really think XX took a lot of extra dead-end roads in her life when she should’ve looked for the right person instead of the kind of life she wanted. CC really had a scary stalker vibe lol but he’s so thrilling and entertaining so it’s forgivable.

Weird that xx cannot remember cc as they been so intimate.not very believable that a guy like cc will come back for her. Only in a book or movie. A lesson for everyone abt the danger of one nite stand, lol. So many fish in the sea, so I will not bother to seek out someone fr my past.
Just finished!! I bawled so much at the end. CC really loves her, he’s such a kid. Will come back later after I get over moping around. The ending is 99% satisfactory because her sister didn’t get her happiness
& yeah I totally agree, even though I like the hubby enough, he doesn’t even come close to what I feel about Qi Cheng. That’s like comparing soda to water. Xun Xun will feel safe with him, but her life will be flavorless and that was partially the reason why she divorced him. Qi Cheng does make her feel safe, but in a different way than a husband like Xie Ping Ning. It’s like an embrace makes you feel more safe than living in a bomb shelter lol. It was so funny that Qi Cheng not able to answer Xun Xun’s question about being in a desert and have one drop of water. It’s not his question, it’s hers. I think in the end, she understands what she really wants/needs and that’s where I cried tears of happiness!!!! Qi Cheng is so ‘bian tai’ lmao he’s so kiddish, like polar opposite of Xun Xun but their chemistry is so obvious even though she’s always so in doubt. I just feel sorry for him because Xun Xun wants 2 things safety & love whereas he just wants her love. I cried a lot in the scene after they came down from the mountain because inside my mind I was counting down on Xun Xun to waver and she did. Heart shattered ah T_T No wonder Qi Cheng was being such a baby to try to drag the stay longer.

I love this story so much! I think him taking what she did to him to heart was understandable. Like Xun Xun said, he don’t have that many people that he cares about. His crush on her makes her one of those people that he can’t forget. He is one of those twisted immature guys so what he did made sense. Alot of readers say the girl suffered Alot, but i think he suffered just as much as well. Her safety desire and sharp words actually makes me heart pang for him, but he deserves it so much. Hehe i actually finished a xyw book thanks to cxt8. Im in Withdrawal now….
I think she don’t remember him because she was drunk so much everything about their night was blurry. When she woke up she didn’t even have the courage to look at him so she doesn’t even know she slept with her sister’s trainer since when she woke up he was sleeping on his face. She just could tell it was a young lad. I think any guy in his situation would feel hate or similar. Just they probably wouldn’t carry it on that far. But i think he wouldn’t dilerbrately look for her if not for her husband’s connection.
Yeah I think that photo was a trigger that hooked out that twisted scheme of his. He was in Shanghai and he already knew she was married a long time ago because it was the next day he found out she was going to get married and doesn’t even remember him. Maybe he was bitter but it’s only been a day, but time passed makes people’s stubborness to let go even more obvious and decided he had to do something about it.
Oh I finished the book on the plane. It is not as sad as the comments made out to be. The only sad part is when xx confronted cc and they said things to hurt each other. At that time I was so scare they will not end up together. Then later scare cc will die. Haha, karma when he hurt himself. I ship cc all the way. Do not dislike xx but also do not like her as much as cc. Cc is such a loner till he cannot call anyone for help. I feel this kind of ppl should end up with a loving girl not some one like xx. Likewise with her background xx should end up with the hubby who can give her security. Anyway I m also happy they end up together but as they said they have a lot of sorting out and adjustment to do not happily ever after ending. Oh, I miss cc very much. Pls leave a MSG for xi li min yin to ask her to ask ni ago to read two books a year. Read author xin new book to me. I like stalker male haha. Actually this book story is weak compared to her other books but the audiobook make me like this book a lot. I cannot sleep thinking abt cc, lol.
Haha me too. I totally love Chi Cheng. Most of my heart pangs were for him. I don’t know why they say the girl gets tortured the most. I feel bad for Xun Xun though. It was all bad fate that she hurted him, but it was all not intentionally like him.
U know i see Lin Geng Xin as Chi Cheng and Shi Shi as Xun Xun. I absolutely love Niao’s voice in here. Im just happy they work together once a year cause that guarantees a modern novel.
Yeah this story is more on XX’s pov, but sometimes through his dialogues, can see that Qi Cheng is very vulnerable and feels no safety from XX as well. At the end of the stay on the mountain when Qi Cheng was trying drag it longer, it was so sad
Haha, I m listening to the beginning again, only cc part bcos I fell asleep here and there. Hey, it feels so different relistening, knowing his purpose. Everything is much much clearer and ironic.

That new book, I dunno…..the reader’s voice sounds similar to the girl narrating for Who Gets the World, but more aunty like. haha Her guy acting voice is …. not too good. It had this weird weird scene in the beginning. Just plan uncomfortable. It gives me the Lan Ling Wang feel, except under that mask is suppose to be a severely damaged face. I think it got repaired already, but I’m not sure. Story wise, it seems like it’ll be pretty heart wrenching, but being a Lan Ling Wang like story, I’m afraid that it might be sad ending. She’s a spy for her family that they put besides the main guy.

When I am listening for the 2nd time, I still enjoy it very much, grinning fr ear to ear. Oh, now I only heard cc is 4 yrs younger than xx. Why cc likes xx who I feel is boring and lack a sense of humour. Her personality matches better with the hubby. Well, I guess opposite attracts.
The new book sound interesting but the quality is questionable. Why they revert back to single reader? After listening to all these top quality book I find it very hard to downgrade. Thus I still have not finished devoted bcos I m not addicted.
I think its because no one cared about him before and suddenly this girl pops out of no where and wants to get him off of a sewer lid afraid that he would drop in. Than later the more he saw her the more he notices her and than he started having a crush on her. Yup i think she matches her hubby more, but her life would definitely be boring, but not that she minds. She’s pretty weird. Like in the beginning she said that the reason of being born is to embrace death. Lol
i think that new book is missable, the story makes me cringe at how twisting the relationships are. Neither brothers are likable, both r rapist. I’d prefer that shang jun book cgege read. U should read meet a ghost, the guy u will like his voice.
Im so happy. The chong zi reader’s next book will have both cgege and bu-gege. Their parts are recorded already just waiting for her to put them together. I hope its good book because her first book had a awesome guy reader but book sucks. Slmy seemed to have collaborated on a new hua qian gu project. But after reading chong zi im not that interested.
Who choose what book to read.? Xian gu is good but too similar to Chong zi. Should read it later as listeners feel tired with sort of the same kind of story. I need more modern books. If ancient, I want wuxia. Actually I do not really like xian xia unless reader very good.

Also lack of good audio book lately. I even relistening to twice blooming flower bcos of ni ao, haha. He has improved a lot or cc character is more suitable for me. Xin mo feels boring ompared to cc.

C is usually used to help out Niao because his range is not big and same with a shou’s book. Her consort book was really bad in terms of plot. Both me and xiaoyuer didn’t like it. Have been very blah about dramas these days, kind of turned into a side-diet. I am craving wuxia these days too, someone from cxt8 please read a wuxia!!!! Waiting on Qie Shi Tian Xia right now, but waiting for reader to finish because want to hit myself every time arrive at a cliff.
I find XX character bland too, but her OCD is very entertaining when first meet her char and then it becomes her angst as story progress. XX is so paranoid, especially when she meets CC as her brother-in-law. She seemed like she was gonna die of heart attack from CC hitting on her so shamelessly. What I like was they never lost that aspect of her character. I just remember some dramas the main guy starts out all OCD like in Yoon Eun Hye’s Lie to Me and then it’s like the guy forgets he ever had that problem to start with. I find it kind of touching that XX’s paranoidness she’s always looking out for others too, like her mom and her family, it’s not like CC says she only cares about herself. What’s the good to herself, saving CC from falling into a sewer since he’s a stranger?
I’m about halfway through right now, so tailing after you guys. I don’t love it, but it’s sweet and a bit on the lighter side, so it’s nice after a long day. I rather wish that XPN had more of a role. I was quite intrigued by him and SJQ, but then it seems like he disappeared from the story entirely. So if this novel were a drama, I’d want more of the second leads, haha! Never thought I would say that.
Saw some of Nice Guy too and I like it but I’m not hooked. Gosh, I’m really not hooking onto anything these days, am I? It’s an interesting, moody piece and I like the actors a lot but I just wish the script! the script! would get better.
And raini, I agree that it’s nice that they kept XX’s OCD-ness . CC is such a child!
XPN does come back into the story to remind us about how wonderful of a married couple him and XX makes. I really don’t think I’d mind marrying a guy like that either and I think XX doesn’t mind either. I think that him and XX would have been fine if CC didn’t show up. I don’t think that XPN would have been able to become something with SJQ, but maybe the feeling would sustain between them for longer if it didn’t get exposed. XPN and SJQ was never meant to be, they just liked the whole restricted feel that their parents created between them.
I was just attracted to CC the entire time, but it was really after his plan was bursted that I came to love him. This guy is really a child, an unloved child.
I dunno if any of you watched Queen of Reversal, CC is like a more pitiable Gu Yong Shik. At least Gu Yong Shik has a secretary that cares for him, poor CC has no one. He just brings tears to my eyes.

I like c gege but never into xpn and sjq as their characters do not have enough depth or development. Xpn is really a lousy hubby, so bland and cold fr the way xx describes him. He never love or appreciate xx till the divorce. He wanna reconcile with her just bcos he is used to having her and failed with sjq. He is overall a nice guy but with time u will be bored. Cc is childish but he is only 25 yo so understandable. Can see how much he loves xx, coming back and doing all those things to get her. Partly it is motivated by revenge yet I feel it is more abt love.
The male lead is like jn as per mookie.The plot is not original but the characters and acting elevate the drama. Atsu, it gets better later. U need to be patient. I marathon till epi 12 now and might watch the ending raw in Korea, lol. Eeeeee, I hope I won’t need therapy later.
I was pretty fine with XPN and SJQ throughout the story. Didn’t dislike them at all, but also didn’t love them all that much. I say i probably grew more attachment to XX’s stepsister than to XPN. Really love Zeng Yu’s char, and the only taint in the ending for me was her failed relationship with that lawyer guy. At one point was hoping XPN got more bigger role (as was led on to believe from the intro) but when I realized he’s really not that big a part, by that time CC was already well into the story and it seems his character could shoulder being the only male lead hehe. CC has a good mix of humor, mystery which i think is really a lifesaver or this story would sink into heavy gloomy atmosphere like XYW’s Let Me Look At You did.

Bu Gege can do the modern. I have faith!!!! His Qing Ke & Zhuo Hao seem pretty nice for modern guys no? Also had a dose of his full range inside Vivibear’s Searching for Past Fate. He has a nice laugh~
She answered me, it’s another Shu Ke book (Chong Zi author) and it’s a Xian Xia book. hehe I prefer if it were the Pheonix one, but I dunno. Maybe Lidge would know which of Shu Ke’s books are xianxia.
The other one I know of is 落花时节又逢君, which I finished about 1 month or two ago so can still remember, lol.
It said under genre about time traveling. She met him 1000 years ago when she was a flower spirit. Than she didn’t want to continue to be a xian and wants to forget him so reincarnated as a human. He finds her during her human lifetime. Is that lifetime during modern times? Or still ancient. Seems like a fun read.
I think it’s 落花时节又逢君. I’m ambivalent about this. Before reading, I thought the plot sounded interesting. Problem is I found the beginning (fighting the lake monster) excruciatingly boring. Dropped it and picked it up again and again. Finally, I got to the interesting part, but then it got boring again, which made everything confusing because I had trouble following the story, lol.
So my overall verdict is that the plot is good and there were some good parts. The problem is the slow pacing of the story, and I just could not connect with the author’s writing style. But I can’t dismiss this novel because I really love the main girl. She totally rocks!!! I admire how she can love so passionately, but the twist is that ………..

Zheng YU did not have happy ending to provide a foil for xx. Not everyone so lucky like her as the lawyer guy has moved on. let me look at u is moving and angsty. U will probably like it a lot better if bu or ni ao is Han shu and xlmy is jn. Anyway I m listening to the parts I skipped now. Oh still love this book. Hey lidge, have u finished book1?

I checked XYW’s facebook page for Viet fans 2 days ago, and someone said she’s reading the first chap online. I was going to berate you for being a bad dealer, peanuts, because you don’t give me any updates, lol.
A lot of ppl are begging for translation, and the person who usually translates XYW’s works says she’ll think about it. So I’m stuck. On one hand, I want to read this soooo bad!!!! But on the other, this is new so translation will be slow, and I don’t want to be left hanging and wondering about story because that’s just torture!!!! Oh what am I saying? Meh, I have no self-control so I know I’ll read any spoilers coming out (blushes in shame~).

I’m OK with the age gap. In the epilogue of Let Me, I remember reading JN and her boss being around the same age so main girl should be 27 or 28 and Uncle 7 is late 30’s. Ahhh, so they’re related in some way? I hope it’s fakecest so they can be together. If XYW pushes the envelope and the love story is of two ppl actually related, then def no happy ending and I will be sad (and vomit blood)!

I dunno…for me a ten year gap is pretty big. If he is a thousand years older but look the same as 20something i am fine though. Maybe because i am just 23 so i think 33 would be half a dad already and this guy is late 30s. Haha but its not my lifestory so i don’t care that much. I need happy ending though.
Finally finished this book! I liked Xun Xun and Chi Cheng but disliked Xie Pin Ning despite how he tried to redeem himself after the divorce. If there is one thing I can’t stand, it’s a man who cheats! He says that he never physically cheated with SJQ but emotionally cheating is just as bad. He never even tried to hide it from XX, which shows to me that he didn’t care about her at all.
I really liked the mystery behind CC and am so glad that the author wasn’t lame and added amnesia to the story line. CC’s yearning for XX is so adorable. He really is just a big man-child. The plot was pretty weak, but it was a light, engaging and fast read.
Just a few loose ends: I wanted to know what happened to XX’s mother and Zhou Ren Fa. I’m sad that Zheng Yu didn’t find her prince charming or make up with her siblings. It would be funny if Zheng Yu ended up with XPN in the end. Hehe.
I just saw this and I have to agree immensely. Taiwanese guys are handsome. Though I’m definitely biased because my boyfriend is Taiwanese. Haha 😀

I think my favorite character in Mirage would be Zeng Yu. She’s such an odd mix of pluck and romance. I actually really liked her with Chen Xiao Zheng, to be honest. I felt really bad for her too.
I didn’t mind the loose ends as much. XPN has issues. He’s the type of guy that always lives in the what ifs and regrets. So he’ll never truly love whoever he’s with. I liked Xun Xun and her problems and her winningness. A very interesting heroine. But I didn’t really like the way her relationship with Chi Cheng was handled. I felt that he needed to grow up and deal with his own problems of love and abandonment before the two can be successfully together. But hooray to no amnesia!! I was getting worried for a bit actually.
It’s been really hard for me to get into any of XYW’s books though. As in really get in and feel for the characters and love them. I liked Chen Xiao Zheng, Zeng Yu, Ruan Guan, and Xun Xun as character studies but it was hard to like them as people. (Well, I did really like Chen Xiao Zheng, but that’s because he’s my type and not because he was a particularly compelling character, I think…)
On another note, I know Lost Youth is being made into a movie and a drama and the casting is all done, but I thought that Bai Baihe would make a good Zheng Wei. I also thought someone like Dong Jie would make a good Xun Xun, and maybe Kai Ko as Chi Cheng? Haha, all personal wishful thinking!

Haha, I don’t think it’s difficult to find a boyfriend. But to find one who cares for you as much as you care for him, one who gives you a sense of security and is willing to work through the highs and lows of life with you is difficult. Indeed, I am very lucky. <—- I think we are still in the honeymoon stage though, so who knows? Maybe in a year, I'll look back on this and will want to bash him as badly as I want to bash XPN. Haha 😀
I definitely agree. I really admired Zheng Yu’s pluck, but I feel that her choice to become friends with benefits with Chen Xiao Zheng was a really bad decision. I don’t think Chen Xiao Zheng had really moved on though, because he tried to reach out to Zheng Yu by explaining that the girl was someone his parents introduced/forced onto him, but she had been hurt too much in the past to risk her heart again.
This is my first XYW book. The summaries of her other books didn’t interest me that much because they seemed like typical melodrama story lines. But the premise of this book is really quite interesting – would you choose a safe, consistent, but only faintly affectionate marriage, or would you choose a romance full of excitement, wild times and rocky patches?
I would choose the latter. I think working through the rocky patches strengthen a relationship. A torrid romance can turn into a consistent marriage, but in a safe, consistent marriage like XX and XPN’s, the couple never learned to work through trails and tribulations together, so they can either continue to tolerate each other, or break up. XX and CC went through the difficulties of becoming a couple so they won’t take each other for granted like XPN treated XX.
i would crave a wild romance like xun xun has with chi cheng but i would prefer a husband who could be my shelter. i can find adventure in career and many other things, but when im lost and tired i want to be able to run back into my shelter and feel secured. definitey not a husband like xpn though. i think they lack any kind of communication or real emotional connections. i have to b able to share all my insecurities with my other half and he has to dote on me. =) i actually want a zheng xie (from Trap). XD
