*Sequel to Dream of the Silver Crucifix, so beware of spoilers*

She is the Night Witch, Lilith; she is the Demon Queen Bai Yan Xi; she is Dongfang Xiao. Her many identities confuse her, she is not sure who she is, what she is. But she knows, she owes them.

The gentle man who she loved most turned out to be part of Archangel Michael, and completely disappeared to save her, never to be found again.

That great Demon Lord, Satan, who continuously calls her “my wife,” made a deal with God and accepted a judgement in her place. The result was to be sent to the Darklands and endure the pain of burning forever.

That cold as ice vampire who turned her was burned to ashes in order to protect her.

There is also the blind youngster and Demon realm’s greatest prophet who narrowly missed each other  for four hundred years like the sun and the moon because of Bai Yan Xi’s persecution.

She will repay them. Therefore, she stubbornly stayed at the Candy House, and ran to different times to attempt to change their destined fate.

She will return their happiness, return their eternity.

But she had forgotten, that there was still someone who continuously stayed by her side, that talkative vampire who never abandoned her.

She has to face a battle a battle that has no return alone. Before she goes, she contains her tears and embraces him, gently announcing, “I love you, forget me.”

This is a romance that crosses space and time, that countless beautiful men are entrapped in. They gave up a lot for Dongfang Xiao, and Dongfang Xiao will disappear from the world to protect them.

Haven’t finished Dream of the Silver Crucifix yet, but I couldn’t resist and read the spoilers. Yes! She loves Luo Te!!!! Of all her men, I ship Luo Te and Wen Ren Bai the most, but I knew that she wouldn’t choose Wen Ren Bai because he loves Bai Yan Xi.

This sounds like it would be really depressing. I might give this a twirl after Please Listen to my Chatter. Skyblu, have you read it yet?

Just started, actually. It isn’t depressing yet but I’m only at the beginning. Right now, the places she traveled to isn’t related to Dream of the Silver Crucifix. The first time travel was to the Liao Zhai story of Nie Xiao Qian and Ning Cai Chen, the second was to Atlantis. The king of Atlantis really sounds like Wei Sheng Yang. She almost has the same conversation with him as she did with Wei Sheng Yang at the Demon Feast. Although, the Atlantis king has obsessive control issues.

Wait, why is she traveling to all these places? Is she trying to change what happened in the past?

For the first story, Nie Xiao Qian’s ghost came and ask her for help, in the second, a mermaid did. Apparently she did this for about three years. I’m assuming she needed practice time traveling. From what I gather, she’s trying to change the past so that she can repay what these people have done for her.

The third story is actually Li and Mo Wen’s, which I’m really interested in. I like their pairing very much even if Mo Wen is selfish.

I’m trying to understand how she isn’t causing a Grandfather Paradox with all of her time traveling, but if the story doesn’t explain it, I can suspend my belief.

Now I really want to read Silver Crucifix because of the sequel. I like time travelers where they go and travel back in time to meet different stories, like in this one it’s Liao Zhai and Atlantis. lol Having read her Grand Dreams novel, I’m sure the men in this 2 books will be very memorable. I’ll do an exception and read this vamp story. Want to see how Chinese vamp stories differ from stuff like Twilight. hehe

Do you know why it’s a Candy House?

The males are lovely. With all the different types, there is bound to be one you like, although not all are interested in Xiao Xiao. There is the Tamaki-esque Luo Te, who is flirtatious and shameless, the great prophet Mo Wen, who’s belief in his visions and his selfishness made them come true, Li, who’s dependency on Mo Wen is as endearing as it is pitiful, Wen Ren Bai, who is cold and devoted to Bai Yan Xi, and then Satan, who’s calm and arrogance come from his immense power. Oh, I forgot about Jia Si, the guy who raised her, too bad Michael ruined his character for me.

Hmm, I’m warning you that there are spoilers. So in the first novel, it’s mentioned that she works in a candy store owned by this 15 year old looking boy called Wei Sheng Yang. Candy is Xiao Xiao’s comfort food, so whenever she’s sad, her disappeared guardian, Jia Si, would give her candy. So when Jia Si disappears, Wei Sheng Yang, the nicer half of Satan, opens a candy store for her. In the end of the first novel, Wei Sheng Yang accepts the Judgement in Lilith’s place and is banished to the Darklands. Because Xiao Xiao doesn’t know where the Darklands are, she’s waiting for him in the candy shop and searching for clues.

She ultimately does. Almost everyone ends up happy, Li gets with Mo Wen, Bai Yan Xi with Wen Ren Bai, Satan and Lilith. I actually thought it wasn’t very depressing, the only time I cried was the last page. I felt so bad for Shuang. Now I just need to find another book to last me the last week of summer vacation.

Oh, thank you, thank you. So happy now but still waiting for my audiobook:( I boycott her Grand Dreams of Spring & Autumn book because I don’t consider the ending as good.

We posted so many books so should not be hard to find another book. If you’ve not read Chatters, go for it if you can tolerate alpha male as xiaoyuer & I are engrossed in it:)

I like alpha male characters, as long as their not abusive. Their jealousy/possessiveness is usually pretty hot. The only reason I’m not considering Chatters on my reading list is because of the comments on his exchange with the main character in the beginning of the book. If you reassure me that his character/actions aren’t too bad/he’s redeemable, I’ll get started.

I won’t say he is abusive but maybe judgemental & forceful at the beginning of the novel. You’ll definitely hate him & wanna bash him. But I think that is the intention of the author to evoke such strong response from the readers.

Then slowly little by little, you’ll start to warm up to him. I don’t know if he can ever redeem himself fully in your eyes as each of us have different level of tolerance & forgiveness. For me, I think I can forgive him but cannot forget what he has done.

This book is a bit out of the norm in term of plot so this makes reading it more exciting & interesting as I doubt I’ll ever meet someone like him. Anyway I hope not, haha.If you can accept the guy’s fallacies, this book is an enjoyable read littered with humour & angst. You’ll like the girl. She is not the usual sugary or door mat character. Anyway, give it a try & you can drop it anytime.

Whoa, she she’s a different person from Lilith? I thought she was just Lilith’s reincarnation, so her soul was still Lilith’s.

What about Michael/Jia Si? Did Jia Si actually die and give his body to Michael so he could destroy Dong Fang Xiao?

Xiao Bai, Xiao Bai, I want my nine-tailed white fox demon. 😀

I want to know if the first book seems incomplete without this book.

    skyblu629 August 31, 2012 at 1:27 am |

Nope apparently her soul is new. Near the end of the novel 3 souls were stuck in the body, Xiao Xiao’s, Lilith’s, and Wu Ma Huo Yan. If she didn’t go back in time and fix both Bai’s pasts, there would be 4. Wow that is a crowded space.

It turns out that Jia Si is actually a part of Michael’s soul, according to Michael, the weakest and most emotional part. He willingly gave up his body for those ten days with Xiao Xiao. Although, every time Michael shows up, he seems to still have a part of Jia Si.

I wonder whether or not I should keep giving spoilers and make you guys read, since it gives away plot twists.

It felt complete to me. The first book has an open ending with Luo Te and Xiao Xiao in the candy house saying, “Now, happiness can happen.” It’s just that all the other characters are dead/imprisoned/lonely.
