Once We Come Across Love/ Embrace Love (Exclusive Fairytale) 兔子压倒窝边草 / 爱情来了你就上 (独家童话) by 忆锦 Yi Jin (HE)

s28363845

The female lead is called Xiao Tu (Bunny) and the male lead is called Ling Cao (Super). They are neighbours who were born a month apart, grew up, went to school and graduated together. Tutu is a cute and good girl but not smart yet not stupid.  She is good at martial arts so the guys are scared of her. Whereas Ling Cao is smart and cool but stuffy & quiet.  He is the brainy type who excels in his study. Tutu’s mother wishes her daughter to grow up and marry Ling Cao but  her dad thinks otherwise. He has been supporting Tutu to get to know other boys.

The book charts the progress of their relationship from their birth to the birth of their child with its ups and downs. The development between  them is so real and sincere making you feel they are such a perfect match like in a fairly tale. Although the book lacks an angsty plot and is not terribly exciting, it is very warm, sweet, interesting and super funny to read. The writing is rather relaxed and humorous. From beginning to end, it will definitely make you smile or laugh:) I personally enjoy reading this joyful and wonderful childhood sweetheart book.

Sorry another book without audio book but the radio drama is coming. This book is very fun & cute. It feels very much like Gu Man’s Wei Wei Yi Xiao. Why no audio book:(? Definitely a good book to read. I’ve been feeling very happy since I started it & should continue to be so since it is public holiday on Monday:) Hey lidge, I am 99% sure this has been translated into Viet & you’ve read it. If not, what are you waiting for, lol?

Peanuts doesn’t want me to sleep 🙂 🙂
All kidding aside, this story is super duper cute! I’ve read it & recommend it.

I’ve also read another cute story by this author. I think it’s called 暖暖的诱惑. The Viet title translated into Eng is “So We’re Getting Married?”. The story also revolves around a set of childhood friends, but the twist here is the main guy starts out gay. The main girl begs/tricks/threatens the main guy to marry her so her mother would stop complaining about her being an old maid. The main guy ends up falling for her without her realizing it. There’s this hilarious part where after marriage, the main girl moves in with the main guy, and the main guy’s boyfriend gets jealous and moves in too LOL! So the three of them live together, and a lot of funny misunderstandings happen.

Also began another book called 可不可以不嫁人 but couldn’t get into the story so dropped it. Planned to go back one day to read it but never got around to it.

Maybe will read another angsty book then read the gay book lidge recommends but it sounds too silly for my taste:) Lidge has a fetish for gay as I remembered she loves everything gay:P I think lidge & I like cute, wacky & funny modern novels compared to most who like ancient & super angsty one. Probably bcos we can’t read & write Chinese so not that keen on ancient books.

This story is abt Tutu & Cao Cao from babies to having a baby. Those readers should consult me in picking up books to read as this book is really very funny & happy making me floating, lol. But so far no reader has read it:( Some of the books they picked are so average or below. Probably cater to the mainland’s taste. A radio drama like Wei Wei Yi Xiao will be perfect.

Hahaha, everyone thinks she is Cao Cao’s child bride:P He is so bad, making her wash his smelly sport shirts & she doesn’t know how to say no. Can’t believe he likes her 1st & she is so blur. She threw him into the river & wanna beat him up, lol. His jealous scenes are hilarious. Wah, he can cook, bonus point to him, lol.

Also, her 3 other room mates are rather interesting. So far, Yin Zi Han as the 2nd lead is likeable & my heart is torn:( I hope he ends up with one of her room mates. I feel sorry for him for always coming 2nd to Cao Cao. Oh, he waited 5 hrs for her & caught a cold, so sweet. They are fighting it out in the basketball court. Arrrrgh, I like this book very much !!!

Viet title for this book: Con thỏ bắt nạt ‘cỏ gần hang’
for We’re Getting Married?: Hai ta kết hôn sao?
for 可不可以不嫁人: CÓ CẦN LẤY CHỒNG KHÔNG?

Put the titles in Google and you’ll see the sites where you can read them.

Trailer for the radio drama, so cute:)

If I can read Chinese, I’ll buy a copy of this book & read it whenever I feel I need some cheering up. Hey Chancy, highly recommend you to read this book later. Although nearly no angst which you like, it is not boring. Very unrealistic story but it is not really fluff as the progress of their r/s is very realistic. They are just beyond adorable, my fav couple of all time:) Their friends also very funny. Cao Cao is the monk & his 3 room mates are the pig, monkey & ? from Journey to the West.

Hey Lidge, I am nearly finishing this book so I started another book bcos I don’t wanna finish my rabbit & her grass too fast as I love them too much, lol. I think I won’t post the new book as I doubt you’ve read it being published recently in 2012 & other scholars are not that keen on modern novel. I am at the beginning & so far it is not bad. Unless I find it very good, then I’ll post it. It is abt the leads having a r/s in Japan then he got married & left her heartbroken. Yrs later, they met again in China as she has to beg him to save her fiance So far, pretty sad:(

Half way thru this book. Such a super duper cute book.

Peanuts, I think you have to hype up this book, it is definitely under-rated.

Much as I tried to slow down the pace by reading each line three times, I have come to the inevitable, I have (ultra reluctantly) finished the book. It is seriously sweetness overload. It is caramel from start to finish. It is the fluffiest book I’ve ever encountered. Yes, Peanuts, I am also floating on a piece of cloud, can’t seem to get off it. And i keep having this stupid grin on my face becoz LingCao is very much on my mind all the time. This book is definitely a MUST read for those who love comedy romance.

The lead guy is a shuai-ge who is serious, smart and hardworking. The lead girl is not stupid but also not so smart, just like most of us are, kinda pretty, nothing over the top.

Their relationship is so real, i guess it’s bcoz the story itself is so amazingly seamless that you don’t even realize they’ve become an item. It was like the most natural thing to happen, no hype, no fuss. Of course, in the process, LingCao was like a warrior in an armour defending his turf, knocking down Tu-Tu’s potential suitors left and right. She was his, she belonged to him from day one. The likes of YinZiHan, Dr JiangHu and ZhaoChenGang never stood a chance, even remotely. He also didn’t like her wearing skirts becoz he didn’t want other men to look at her, the calculated risk was too high (he’s exceptionally good in maths)!!!

While TuTu was rather slow to react or even realize LingCao’s blossoming affections for her, he on the other hand has his sights set on her since he was like twelve (??). But really the seeds were sowed even as they were holding hands and toddling their way to kindie. I never imagine a childhood romance could be so steadfast and unwavering. He never batted an eyelid to the hordes of girls clamouring for his attention.

And alas, as blurr as TuTu is, there’s no way she can escape the clutches of fate when at twenty, her fav toy is still the rag bunny doll made from his (cloth) diaper!!!

And it was so funny when she realised that he has grown taller than her all of a sudden. Poor TuTu, she had always thought she was the more matured one, she used to be taller, she ate more, she was the one holding his hand and leading the way, she was technically a month older, she was after all his ‘elder’ god-sister, (and he hated being called her little god-brother)!!!! Everything changed after he got thrown into the river and he took up basketball as a result of that!!!!

The bedroom scenes where he tries to eat her tofu were simply priceless. And it is so sweet that she blushes all the time. Heehee…btw, I think LingCao is a budding fu-hei, if he isn’t already one!!!

The book is not just on romance, it is also about a hardworking LingCao who is so eager to make something of himself so that he could provide for their future. This is the part that was as real as life becoz he was not the typical aristocratically rich and powerful as most lead characters are.

The book also dwells on how TuTu matures to eventually become a nurse. Incidentally, she wanted to be a nurse since she was very young. That time LingCao had a fever and was crying as he had to be on IV. He stopped crying when a nurse came, held one of his hands and comforted him or so TuTu thought. In actual fact, he stopped crying becoz TuTu came to hold his other hand. And of course in our dear TuTu’s blurry mind was, ‘wow, it is great to be a nurse’. And hence, a very noble ambition was borned!!

The book is also about friendship, lovely to see the camaraderie the leads have with their respective roomies. I also kinda like the little side story between TuTu’s roomie, XiaMo and her fiancé TaoQian. The author should do a spinoff based on this couple.

Even the oldies in the book are entertaining. Tutu’s father was particularly cute when he had reservations about LingCao. It was hilarious when his strategies to keep them apart all came to nought and back fired on him.

Such a light, yet humorous and remarkable story that tugs at my heart and generally makes me a happier person (believe me, I can’t stop grinning). There is no ambiguity, no angst, no separation, no misunderstanding, no heartbreaks, even their quarrels come with a tinges of humour and happiness. This book is exactly the way i like stories to be told. I wish I have amnesia, so that I can immediately forget the story and read it again and again.

Hey, Lidge and Peanuts, thanks again for recommending this book, although it took me donkey years to heed your advice!!!!

Actually I have also just finished YLWX’s Love Given To You By Mistake. Will pick up WeiWei again, hope I can persevere this time, after all it’s a GuMan. Btw, my one and only Chinese books reading friend also told me to read 暖暖的诱惑. I will definitely go for it. I also hv to try Gaga which you just posted.

Little 7….golly…woggy….she’s a guy, I mean, he’s a guy!!!! That’s interesting!! But b4 i offer to cook his meals and do his laundry, he must meet my criteria:- age (can’t be over 30); financial standing (must be excessively rich like Feng Teng becoz i will be a lady of leisure as I intend to spend all my time reading Chinese books); looks and persona (must be a lethal mix of JiangLi, HeYiChen, XiaoBai and LingCao); intelligence (like YangLanHan). Did I miss out anything…(???)…haha…

I am officially dropping 暖暖的诱惑, I realised I can’t do gay stuff, I like my lead male to be straight.

For the record, JiangLi (Flash Marriage) thought he was gay, but in actual fact, he is not. Whereas, the lead in 暖暖的诱惑 is a real gay, in a real gay relationship with a guy. Oh gosh, I find that a tad too eeeky for my taste. Maybe I will revisit this book in the future, I dunno, but for now, I’m laying off.

Hi I just finish the book…in need of some sugar in my life….yes, this OTP were born to be with each other. She is dense but he is not. He has his sight lock onto her since young. But maybe cos it is a China novel, it’s fairly “innocent”…just kisses, held hands and hugs…not even much bodily exploration, which is a bit unreal especially for teenage romance..her thinking is overly innocent and that makes the actions of other seem so calculated eg. her “parent-in-law” giving her the handphone becomes part of her dowry, ling cai’s mum alway ensure she never fall off the bike- protecting her future daughter in law, all the lifts she received from the Lin’s family…From child bride, she automatic upgrade to being his girlfriend and finally Wife as they grow up. She just goes with the flow but he had never openly declare he likes her…he was thrown into the river before he finished talking. I guess the turning point that she realised he like her was from the steal kiss at the hospital and after that, she just accept him as his boyfriend. There is no up or down in the story which is a little disappointing. But since the theme of this book is about them growing up with each other as the chosen one, it’s just like a warm cup of coffee on a cold rainy day….but at 75 chapters, it’s a little too draggy for my taste…

hi Peanut…..I root for 亲梅竹马kind of love. I seek refuge in this rabbit after I lost my ships with Zhuanxu in LYF and my QFX in Emperor Strategy. I was reading too many heavy books of Tong hua and Feiwosichun. I find it hard to gave up on any books halfway so I tend to read book reviews before starting any. I think this book could be better if the author has kept it short and sweet…maybe 50 chapters would be enough.I like the wit in her writing…but as you put it…one can die from sweetness overdose. The ending was quite abrupt maybe cos she was going to start another book. I would say this book is sweet but not memorable….but thanks for the recommendation.

Does anyone know who (team or people) did the radiodrama and what else they may have produced? More specifically people who did this one:
    http://www.ximalaya.com/7377482/album/244280
I think it might be same voices as the ones in the tudou link in above post that is listed as “radiodrama”. The voices are superior to the single voice in the other audiobook that is currently listed as “audiobook” (not exactly sure if the link I found is an audiobook or radiodrama).

Anyways, I couldn’t find more of it, but the voices are really good. Lately I’ve been really into good quality audiobooks. If anyone knows what other audiobooks the people I have in the link have read (or really, just any other really great quality audiobooks/radiodramas) please let me know! Thanks in advance 🙂

Hello, can someone please translate Once We Come Across Love into English? Someone started but dropped it after chapter 9. I fell in love with the story and am currently feeling loss as I am not able to continue reading it. Peanuts and lidge, I’ve entered the c novel world through your great translations so thank you!
